Triple H has made several alterations to WWE's storytelling and on-screen presentation since replacing Vince McMahon in 2022. Charles Robinson, a WWE referee for the last 23 years, recently gave his take on the major behind-the-scenes changes.

In January, McMahon stepped down as a board member of WWE's parent company TKO amid misconduct allegations. The 78-year-old was in charge of WWE during Robinson's first 21 years with the company.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Robinson provided an insight into what the new era looks like under Triple H and said the company was heading in a positive direction.

"I think we're going in a very, very positive direction. A little bit more of an edge to the product now, so I love being there. So much fun," said Robinson. [1:22 – 1:32]

Triple H's creative regime has drawn comparisons to the late 1990s and early 2000s, a period known as the Attitude Era. Robinson understands why so many fans think the current product is similar to those days:

"Maybe a little bit with the Attitude Era, you know? A little bit more language, pushing the boundaries," felt Robinson. [1:36 – 1:43]

Robinson added that fans might not realize how the grueling travel schedule is a large part of being a referee in the pro wrestling industry.

"The travel, it's probably the hardest part of the job. I tell people all the time, I don't get paid to referee. I get paid to get on the plane and to travel. That's exactly what it is. Don't tell anybody that I would do the job for free, but I won't travel for free," he stated. [0:54 – 1:08]

In the same interview, Robinson opened up about a wrestler's 2023 return that brought a tear to his eye.
