Chelsea completed a 5-0 rout of Morecambe at Stamford Bridge in Round 3 of the FA Cup on Saturday, January 11. As a result, the Blues progress to Round 4, while their visitors crash out having started the competition in Round 1.

Chelsea made a composed and assured start to the game as they dominated possession and froze Morecambe out without much of the ball. This dominance on the ball led to several chances but the Blues were wasteful in the final third for most of the first period. They attempted a total of 15 shots but a measly three of those were on target as they struggled to convert their chances.

The biggest chance came early in the half as Christopher Nkunku stepped up to take a penalty. However, his shot was saved by Harry Burgoyne in a great start to the contest by Morecambe. That high lasted for just a while as Tosin Adarabioyo scored to make it 1-0 after 39 minutes from Reece James' assist. The visitors managed two shots on target from two attempts in a decent showing.

Chelsea led their visitors 1-0 at the end of the first half.

Manager Enzo Maresca made three changes at the interval for Chelsea as Malo Gusto, Marc Cucurella and Jadon Sancho came on in place of Reece James, Romeo Lavia and Pedro Neto. The hosts doubled their lead just five minutes into the second period as Nkunku made up for his first-half miss and scored from open play after 50 minutes.

It was Morecambe manager Derek Adams' turn to then make a triple change, but once again, the Blues had the last laugh. They scored in the 70th minute as Adarabioyo made it a brace for himself from Tyrique George's assist. The latter bagged his second assist just five minutes later, assisting Joao Felix for 4-0.

The Portuguese marksman scored his second goal just two minutes later, this time assisted by substitute Cucurella. Chelsea secured a dominant win against their rivals, and on that note, let's take a look at their player ratings.
