Chelsea will be looking to secure their first win of the year when they play host to Morecambe in round three of the FA Cup on Saturday. Both sides head into the weekend with contrasting results.

Derek Adams’ men claimed a comfortable home victory over Tranmere Rovers while Chelsea failed to arrest their recent slump in form and were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace after conceding an 82nd-minute equaliser at Selhurst Park last Saturday.

Enzo Maresca’s side have gone four back-to-back matches without a win, picking up two draws and losing twice since a 5-1 victory over Shamrock Rovers in the UEFA Europa Conference League on December 19.

Chelsea, who have now dropped into fourth-place in the Premier League table, now turn their focus to the FA Cup, where they will be looking to begin their campaign with a comfortable win.

Morecambe, on the other hand, turned in a solid team display on New Year’s Day as they secured a 2-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers in their League Two clash.

Adams’ men have now picked up two wins from their most recent three matches, having failed to win the previous five games across all competitions preceding this run.

Morecambe turn their focus to the FA Cup, where they kicked off the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Worthing on November 2, four weeks before edging out Bradford 1-0 in the second round.
