Round 20 of Italian Serie A gets underway as Lazio play host to Como at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday. Cesc Fabregas’ men have failed to win their last six away matches and will head into the weekend looking to end this dry spell.
Lazio failed to kick off the new year on a high as they suffered a 2-0 loss against rivals AS Roma in the heated Derby della Capitale at the Stadio Olimpico last Sunday.
Marco Baroni’s side have now failed to win three of their most recent four matches, losing twice and claiming one draw, having won the three games preceding this run.
Lazio have picked up 35 points from their 19 Serie A games to sit fourth in the league table, three points above fifth-placed Juventus, who sit just outside the Champions League qualification places.
Como, on the other hand, turned in a solid team display last time out when they secured a 2-0 victory over Lecce to draw the curtains on their schedule for 2024.
This came after a 2-0 defeat against reigning champions Inter Milan at San Siro on December 23, a result which saw their three-game unbeaten run come to an end.
Fabregas’ men have picked up 18 points from their 18 league matches so far to sit 16th in the table but could move level with 11th-placed Torino with a win this weekend.
Lazio and Como head into the new year off the back of a contrasting first half of the season, with Fabregas’ side scrambling for points just above the relegation zone. Lazio boast the firepower needed to get the job done and we are backing them to bounce back from their Derby della Capitale defeat.
