Former Barcelona icon and current Como manager Cesc Fabregas, after finding success with the signing of Nico Paz, is keen on raiding Real Madrid to sign starlet Jesus Fortea, according to Cadena Cope (via Football Espana). Fortea was signed by Real Madrid in 2022 and has a contract that runs till 2026.
Madrid made the exception of signing Fortea from their city rivals Atletico Madrid in 2022, breaking a pact of non-aggression between them. This also led to a breakdown in relations between the two giant clubs.
However, it appears as if Como are now in the market to pick up Fortea from Los Blancos. The 17-year-old has widely been tipped to have a prolonged career at the top level, and has displayed the immense potential that he has while playing for Real Madrid U19 so far. The right-back has not made a single senior appearance for Madrid yet, and it is interesting to note that Fabregas' Como want to sign him.
Fabregas earlier signed Nico Paz from Madrid, with the latter club retaining 50 percent of their rights. Along with Paz, Paulo Iago was another youngster who went to Como from Real Madrid. They will be keen on renewing Fortea's deal to prevent him from leaving the club for cheap, but it will not be an easy task.
Fortea, as mentioned earlier, is destined to be a top player going by the glimpses he has shown so far. This season, he has scored two goals and provided two assists for Real Madrid U19 in six matches of the UEFA Youth League. In the Segunda Federacion Group V, Fortea has played two matches so far.
With the increasing likelihood of current Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold being signed in the summer for free, Cortea's rise to the top at the Bernabeu may get halted. This might give him the impetus to move to Como, where he can develop into a fine player under Fabregas' mentorship.
So far in his career, Fortea has made 12 appearances for Real Madrid U19, scoring two goals and bagging three assists. He was at first in the Levante youth system, moving to Atletico Madrid's academy in July 2019. In 2022, he was purchased by the bigwigs at Real Madrid from Atletico.
At the moment, Real Madrid are ranked right on top of the league table with 43 points to their name. Como, meanwhile, are perched upon the 16th position of the Serie A standings with 18 points inside their kitty.
