Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has given his two cents over the Spanish National Sports Council's (CSD) decision to grant Barcelona the permission to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. The Argentine manager expressed he isn't in support of the decision, claiming that his club has abide by the rules of La Liga.

Barcelona’s registration case of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor got the football world buzzing after the Catalan club was unable to register their summer signings for the second of the season due to their financial issues. However, the soap opera is now over as they’ve been granted a precautionary measure by Spain’s National Sports Council to provisionally register the pair.

As per reports from Spanish publication Sport, La Liga clubs were divided on their stance with Olmo’s case, with clubs like Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, who have representatives in the league’s delegation committee, strongly opposed to Barcelona.

With the successful provisional re-registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor back into the Barcelona squad, the news continues to stir massive reactions in Spain. Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has taken the same position as his club on the case and expressed his annoyance in the pre-match conference on their La Liga match with Osasuna. Simeone said (via Tribal Football):

"It's better that I keep quiet, that's all. Our club, like all members of La Liga until this resolution, has respected the rules of economic control and will continue to respect them. Indeed, in order to be competitive at the level we have reached in recent years, we have decided to proceed with various capital increases, despite the enormous effort that this implies."

What Atletico Madrid said on the decision to allow Barcelona to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor

In the aftermath of the Spanish National Sports Council (CSD) granting Barcelona an urgent precautionary measure to register Olmo and Victor, Atletico Madrid voiced its discontent over the decision in a statement on its website.

The statement read:

''Club Atlético de Madrid wants to show its deep concern for the situation generated in Spanish football after the resolution adopted by the Consejo Superior de Deportes ("National Sports Council") on Wednesday. We consider that this decision jeopardises the current system, questioning the rules of the game. The Ley del Deporte (‘Sports Law’) itself includes and protects LaLiga's economic control and yet, with this resolution, it is put at risk. LaLiga's economic control has been the main tool that has managed to turn our football into a solvent sector, a process admired internationally.
''Our club, like all LaLiga members until this resolution, has been complying with the rules of economic control and we will continue to respect them. In fact, in order to be able to compete at the level we have been competing at in recent years, we have decided to carry out various capital increases, despite the enormous effort that this entails. This government intervention creates a very dangerous precedent, as it opens the door to circumventing the rules and repeating the serious mistakes of the past. Atlético de Madrid remains committed to rigour and responsible management. Without clear and equal rules for all, no fair competition is possible.

Apart from Atletico Madrid, Valencia CF and Espanyol also expressed disagreement over CSD’s granting Barcelona a temporary reprieve.
