Manchester United legend David Beckham has playfully reignited the rivalry in his household, cheekily responding to his son Romeo Beckham’s Instagram story ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with the Red Devils. The two English heavyweights will clash at the Emirates on Wednesday, December 4.

Romeo, an outspoken fan of the Gunners, hyped up the game via his Instagram story, writing:

"Big game in the old Beckham household today. Come on you Gunners."

David reposted the story with a sharp quip:

"Big game for you lot, just another game for us," accompanied by a laughing emoji.

The Englishman made 391 appearances for the Red Devils, winning six Premier League titles and one Champions League during his time at Old Trafford.

The exchange has drawn attention to the amusing football divide within the Beckham family. The younger Beckham pledges loyalty to the North London club while his father remains an icon of United’s glory days.

David Beckham has often reflected on how Romeo’s Arsenal fandom came about, recounting the story with humour and resignation.

Speaking previously on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Beckham explained that it all began with an innocent outing to the Emirates Stadium. He said (via Manchester Evening News):

"He was really young, and we were in London on a Friday. He said: ‘Dad, let’s go to a game this weekend.’ Arsenal were at home, and I thought, why not? They’re always great to me when I visit, so I figured we’d go."

That decision proved fateful. The north London side's legendary manager Arsène Wenger personally greeted Romeo, taking him to meet the players in the dressing room, gifting him a signed shirt, and even presenting him with an Arsenal cashmere scarf.

"That was it—done. I’ve tried to change his mind since, but it’s impossible."

Tonight’s (December 4) encounter at the Emirates Stadium is more than just a battle between two Premier League heavyweights.

For the Gunners, a victory would be crucial in their pursuit of league leaders Liverpool, narrowing the gap at the top to six points if Liverpool stumble against Newcastle United.

Under new manager Ruben Amorim, Manchester United's win would reinforce their resurgence and bring them within three points of Arsenal in the standings.
