Chelsea legend Petr Cech makes feelings clear after Czech compatriot Antonin Kinsky joins Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea icon Petr Cech has backed young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky to shine at Tottenham Hotspur following his permanent transfer from Slavia Prague.

Kinsky, 21, secured a transfer to Ange Postecoglou's side from Slavia Prague for an initial sum of £12.5 million earlier this Sunday (January 5). He is likely to start for his club ahead of Fraser Forster and Brandon Austin in the coming weeks.

During a recent chat with The Playbook House, Cech was asked to share his honest thoughts on Kinsky's recent move to the Premier League side. The Chelsea great responded (h/t Tribal Football):

"I wouldn't worry about he being at a disadvantage because of his younger age. When we look at the Premier League, it's not uncommon to come across players who are maybe 17 years old. When the [players] have something to give to the team, they just play. So, I think with Antonin, it will be all about his performance."

Cech, who helped Chelsea win 15 trophies from 2004 to 2015, added:

"I am very happy that he got the opportunity. Tottenham are a traditional club that regularly fights for the UEFA Champions League. I believe that he will do well and that the club will suit him. The role in the team should suit him because the head coach wants the goalkeepers to play with their feet, which is his great asset."

Cech, who played for Arsenal after departing Chelsea, concluded:

"I came to England at a similar age. So, I would advise him to concentrate mainly on football. To prepare for every training session, for every game and to be on his toes all the time. We spoke about the transfer and I told him my opinion. But, I don't think he needed it. He is very lucky to have a great family background."

Could Chelsea icon Petr Cech be correct about young Tottenham Hotspur star Antonin Kinsky?

Last November, Tottenham Hotspur lost star goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to an ankle injury. Since then, Ange Postecoglou's outfit have conceded 23 goals in just 11 overall appearances, registering one clean sheet in the process.

Kinsky, whose Spurs contract is set to expire in June 2031, could prove to be a breath of fresh air for the north London side. He has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year and has even made the Czechia bench four times so far.

Before his transfer to Tottenham, Kinsky registered 14 clean sheets and conceded 18 goals in 29 games across competitions for Slavia Prague this season.
