Chelsea are worried over the fitness of centre-back Levi Colwill following the 2-1 Premier League win at Leicester City on Saturday (November 23). The 21-year-old received treatment after the victory at the King Power Stadium.
Coming to the game, Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring for the visitors inside 15 minutes before Enzo Fernandez doubled their lead with 15 minutes remaining. Jordan Ayew pulled one back from the spot for the Foxes deep in stoppage time, but it was too little too late as the Blues hung on for the win.
However, victory might have come at a cost for Enzo Maresca's side. As per Football London, Colwill lay on the turf at the King Power after the full-time whistle and received extensive treatment from his team's doctors. The defender eventually got up and made his way to the tunnel, but concerns remain about his fitness.
Colwill has been a key player for the Blues this season, especially in the Premier League, where he has started all 12 games. Maresca's side have won six of them to remain third in the standings, ahead of Arsenal, who lead Nottingham Forest 1-0 at half-time at the Emirates.
Chelsea centre-back Wesley Fofana sounded pleased with the win at his former side Leicester City. The former Foxes man has been at Stamford Bridge since the summer of 2022.
Fofana, 23, has played and started 11 Premier League games this season, missing the 2-1 defeat at leaders. The Frenchman said following the hard-fought win at the King Power Stadium (as per the BBC):
"After the international break it is a bit harder. Some players only came back yesterday. We played well, and we won the game, which is the most important thing. The job is done. We have the three points.
"We like this pressure. We play for this and to finish at the top. We try to win every game to stay high. It felt great to come back here. (I had) two incredible years here."
The Blues next travel to Heidenheim in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday (November 28).
Maresca' side are atop the standings, being one of six teams in the 36-team field to have a perfect record after three matchdays. They return to Premier League action three days later when they host Aston Villa.
