Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has predicted his top four for the Premier League this season, snubbing Manchester City. He believes the Cityzens are undergoing a revamp and will miss out on the top four despite winning the title in the last four seasons.

After setting the record by winning four consecutive Premier League titles, Manchester City have struggled massively this season. They have just one win in their last 12 games across competitions. They are seventh in the standings, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

In his column for Caught Offside, Collymore shared his prediction for the Premier League top four, writing:

"Manchester City to have a complete revamp in the way Chelsea recently have, by recruiting lots of Europe’s best young u25 players, and the top four placings in the Premier League will be Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and I’ll go for Villa again as I think that they’re just about good enough."

Collymore has backed his former side to continue their tremendous form and win the title this season. The Reds sit atop the table, four points above second-placed Chelsea with a game in hand.

Liverpool and Manchester City prepare for Boxing Day test after contrasting results

Manchester City's poor form continued on the weekend as they lost 2-1 against Aston Villa on Saturday, December 21. Jhon Duran gave Villa the lead at Villa Park in the 16th minute before Morgan Rogers doubled their lead in the 65th minute. Phil Foden scored a consolation goal for City in the third minute of stoppage time.

Liverpool, meanwhile, came out on top in an enthralling nine-goal classic at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Luis Diaz (23') gave the Reds the lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before Alexis Mac Allister (36') made it 2-0. James Maddison (41') pulled one back for Spurs but Dominik Szoboszlai (45+1') made it 3-1.

Mohamed Salah (54', 61') scored a brace before Dejan Kulusevski (72') and Dominic Solanke (83') made it 5-3. Diaz then finally completed the scoring in the 85th minute in an entertaining match. With the win, Liverpool retained their place at the top of the table.

The Reds will now host Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day (December 26) while Manchester City will host Everton at the Etihad earlier that day. The Toffees have notably played out two goalless draws in their previous two games against Arsenal and Chelsea.
