Manchester United head coach has professed his admiration for Mason Mount. The Englishman has been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford since arriving at the club from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

The Red Devils reportedly paid £55m for Mount, but the player has failed to impress so far. He has registered just six appearances across competitions this season, and has struggled with injuries and lack of form.

The arrival of Amorim could alter his fortunes at Manchester United. The 25-year-old was influential in a 3-4-3 system under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge earlier in his career.

Speaking to the Red Devils' website, the former Sporting manager insisted that his system will be perfect for Mount.

“Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid. You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me," said Amorim.

He continued:

“I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he’s trying to stay fit and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he’s shown, for example, in Chelsea.”

He concluded:

“He played in this system [before], so it’s perfect for him. I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!”

Mason Mount has two starts this season for Manchester United, both coming in the league, but has amassed just 224 minutes of first team action. He is likely to be part of the squad for the upcoming Premier League game against Ipswich Town on Sunday, November 24.

How will Mason Mount fit into Ruben Amorim's setup at Manchester United?

Mason Mount was handed the fabled No. 7 shirt upon his arrival at Manchester United and it is safe to say that he hasn't lived up to expectations. The Englishman has registered just one goal and one assist from 26 games for the Red Devils till date.

Injuries have been his bane, with the player missing 30 games so far with various knocks. Interestingly, he has 33 goals and 35 assists from 195 appearances for Chelsea.

Mount was used alongside Amad as the two No. 10s in Ruben Amorim's first training session. That could be the position the Manchester United head coach has planned for the Englishman, alongside Bruno Fernandes. Mount could also be used a little further back, but perhaps that will only be clear as the season progresses.
