Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has laid down a challenge to his teammates on the back of their performance against Liverpool on Sunday. The Red Devils held the Premier League leaders to a 2-2 draw at Anfield, picking up a deserved point to end their losing streak.

Ruben Amorim's side were on a run of four successive defeats after their dramatic 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City in the derby on December 15. They lost to Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Newcastle United ahead of facing runaway leaders Liverpool at Anfield.

Manchester United showed grit and quality to go toe-to-toe with arguably the best side in Europe this season. They were left feeling like they should have won the game. Bruno Fernandes issued a rallying cry to his teammates after the game, pointing out that such a performance ought to be churned out consistently.

"We can't be satisfied. I'm pretty upset. If we can show this at Anfield, why can't we do this every week? We need to be aware that we need much more from ourselves," he said (via Utd District).

Bruno Fernandes was one of the best players for either side in the game, registering an assist and creating four chances for his teammates. The Manchester United captain also completed 100% of his dribbles and made 12 passes into the final third during the game. He also won 11 of 13 duels as he showed grit and fight in his first game back after he missed the Newcastle defeat through suspension.

Manchester United hold Liverpool to draw in dramatic clash

Manchester United held runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Anfield, avoiding defeat for the first time in five games. The Red Devils and Reds served up a spectacle, sharing the points equally as Liverpool retained their place atop the standings.

Manchester United found the net first in the second half after a drab first half which did not produce any goals. Bruno Fernandes set up Lisandro Martinez to open the scoring with a thunderous strike which went in off the crossbar in the 52nd minute.

Liverpool hit back immediately as Cody Gakpo cut inside and fired one into the corner in the 59th minute to level matters. The Reds went ahead in the 70th minute as Mohamed Salah scored his 18th league goal of the season from the penalty spot. Amad Diallo ensured that he had the final say at Anfield as he did at the Etihad Stadium last month by scoring the equaliser in the 80th minute.
