Inter Miami are reportedly looking to find an agreement with Lionel Messi to extend his stay at the club beyond 2026. The MLS side will reportedly offer a contract extension to the Argentine legend with a special clause that will allow him to move elsewhere on loan during the off-season.

Messi signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Inter Miami when he joined them from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023 after spending his entire career in Europe. The 37-year-old will see his contract with the Herons expire at the end of the 2025 MLS season, and the club are keen to tie him down for longer.

A report from X has revealed that Inter Miami are prepared to offer an extension to the former Barcelona man for the 2026 MLS season, at least. The deal will include a clause that allows the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner to move to Europe on loan to maintain his fitness during the off-season.

The Herons will move to a new stadium in 2026, and president Jorge Mas has revealed in the past that he expects Lionel Messi to still be on their books when they do. The club is all set to do everything that it can to ensure that the forward remains on their books until the 2026 FIFA World Cup, at least.

Messi has led the club to silverware in each of his two seasons in the MLS, helping the club win the Leagues Cup in 2023 and the Supporters Shield in 2024. The forward has scored 34 goals and provided 18 assists in 39 appearances for the Herons since joining them.

Lionel Messi set to get new teammate as Inter Miami close in on midfielder from Casa Pia - Reports

Lionel Messi is reportedly set to receive a new teammate at Inter Miami as the Herons are set to sign midfielder Telasco Segovia from Casa Pia. The Venezuela international will sign with the MLS outfit, as an agreement has been reached with all parties.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Javier Mascherano's side are prepared to make Segovia their second signing after Fafà Picault. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder will be a direct replacement for Diego Gomez, who has left to join Brighton & Hove Albion.

Inter Miami have reportedly agreed to pay a record $2.5 million to Casa Pia for the eight-cap Venezuela international, with the Portuguese club retaining a 50 percent sell-on clause. Segovia has scored two goals in 15 league appearances for Casa Pia this season and will be eager to feature alongside Lionel Messi in Florida.
