Manchester United legend Paul Scholes delivered a verdict on England captain Harry Kane after his performances during the recent international break. The Bayern Munich star is the highest goalscorer in Three Lions' history but has failed to win a global competition for the nation.

Since making his debut under Roy Hodgson in 2015, Kane has scored 69 goals and provided 19 assists in 103 appearances for the Euro 2024 finalists.

Scholes, a former midfielder who made 66 appearances for the same country, believes the end is nigh for his countryman. He said on Stick to Football brought to you by Sky Bet via the Daily Mail:

"It felt like the end of Harry Kane [during the international break] – the beginning of the end. He looked out of place in the team. When you get older you feel like everything happens a bit quicker around you and it looked a bit like that. But I don't know how we'd replace him."

Kane still remains a vital part of the England national team and will be expected to participate in the team's bid to win the 2026 World Cup in the United States of America. He has been in fine form this season for Bayern Munich, bagging 17 goals and nine assists in 1275 minutes across 16 games.

"I don't think [it will be my last chance]" - England captain Harry Kane believes the 2026 World Cup will not be his last chance to win silverware with three Lions

England Captain Harry Kane has shut down claims that the 2026 World Cup will be his final chance to win silverware with his country. The striker is one of the most lethal goalscorers in the world, but at 31, he is entering the twilight of his career.

Kane is set to fight for his place leading the line for the Three Lions in the coming years after the emergence of younger players in the same position, like Dominic Solanke, Ollie Watkins, and Tammy Abraham. However, he believes he will continue to be involved with the national team beyond 2026.

Kane told Sky Sports via the Daily Mail:

"I don't think [it will be my last chance]. There's sometimes a perception when you get into your thirties that you're coming to an end. But for me personally I'm performing at the highest level I've ever performed and feel as good as I've ever felt so it's about taking in the moment."
"I don't like to look too far ahead, in my career I never have. The World Cup is going to be exciting, in America it's going to be an incredible occasion and ultimately it's about to win that. As always you look at where you and what you need to improve and that will no different in a couple years," he added.

Harry Kane has been in fine form for England this season, scoring three goals in his last five games in the UEFA Nations League. He hopes to maintain a strong run of form in the national team under Thomas Tuchel, for whom he scored 44 goals and provided 12 assists in 45 games during their time together at Bayern Munich.
