According to The Athletic, Manchester United scrapped their plan to wear pro-LGBTQ+ jackets ahead of their game against Everton last week because of Noussair Mazraoui's refusal to join in. The Moroccan defender cited his Muslim faith as the reason for his refusal.

Mazraoui joined the Red Devils this summer from Bayern Munich for a reported fee of €15 million and has been one of the club's standout players since his arrival. The defender has played 20 times for the English giants across competitions and provided two assists.

According to the report, the rest of the Manchester United squad opted against wearing the jackets so that the defender did not stand out as the only player refusing to do so.

Noussair Mazaroui is expected to be on the pitch for Ruben Amorim's side when they face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, December 4.

"I felt he’s in a good moment now, his fitness is better, so I think he is going to be in the squad" - Ruben Amorim provides injury update on Manchester United defender

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has provided an injury update on French defender Leny Yoro ahead of his side's clash with Arsenal in the Premier League. The defender joined the Red Devils from Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille in the summer but is yet to make a professional appearance for the English giants.

Yoro reportedly cost United €62 million, but he picked up an ankle injury during pre-season which has sidelined him until now. However, Amorim expects the Frenchman to be in the squad for the clash against Arsenal. He said (via the club's website):

"We have one more training session to see it, Maybe Leny Yoro is going to be in the squad. I felt he’s in a good moment now, his fitness is better, so I think he is going to be in the squad. We didn’t have too many trainings together. He’s training not alone but with a small group of players. He’s really fast but he’s a modern defender and that is good when you want to press high."

The Manchester United head coach added:

"I think he is a special talent but we have to be careful in this first moment. You have a lot of strikers, especially in this league, one against one. I think he can manage that. He’s very good with the ball so I’m really excited but we have to be careful. We have to manage the load and the minutes in the beginning but I’m really excited to see Leny Yoro playing. The rest, I have to see. Some players were tired so we have to assess tomorrow in training."

Leny Yoro is one of the most highly rated young defenders and will be keen to show his quality for his new side in the coming weeks.
