Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has surpassed iconic former Blues striker Hernan Crespo with his strike in the club's 2-1 win against Leicester City. Enzo Maresca got one over his former employers at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, November 23.
Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring for Chelsea 15th minute, capitalizing on Leicester City defender Wout Faes' defensive lapse. Enzo Fernandez doubled the lead in the 75th minute before Jordan Ayew grabbed a late consolation goal for the Foxes in the 95th minute.
With his striker against Leicester City, Jackson has now amassed seven goals in the Premier League this season. Enzo Maresca admitted that he is closely working with the Senegal international which is evident from his improvement this season.
Jackson has now surpassed iconic former Argentine striker Hernan Crespo in terms of goals in the Premier League. The 23-year-old has now 21 Premier League goals to his name overtaking Crespo who had 20.
Crespo was on the books of Chelsea between 2003 and 2008 although he spent three seasons away on loan. He was a part of the Blues' side that won the Premier League title in the 2005-06 campaign.
Crespo only made 73 appearances for the west London giants, scoring 25 times while producing six assists. He spent the 2004-05 season on loan at AC Milan and the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons on loan at Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, Jackson joined the Blues in the summer of 2023 from Villarreal in a deal worth a reported £32 million. He has so far found the back of the net 23 times in 56 games while providing nine assists for the Blues.
Serie A giants Napoli are reportedly eyeing a move for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi. As reported by Area Napoli (via The Hard Tackle), Antonio Conte is eager to sign the France international on loan in January.
Conte has made an incredible start to his tenure at Napoli as his side currently leads the table. However, the title race has been a really close one, with as many as six teams in the mix.
The ex-Chelsea manager is believed to be eager to add more quality and depth to his side in order to boost their title hopes. Disasi's versatility is the reason why the former Tottenham Hotspur boss is thought to be keen on his signing.
Disasi moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth a reported £38.5 million from AS Monaco. However, he has not been able to establish himself as a regular starter for the Blues.
