Bacarty Sagna believes that new Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim would welcome former midfielder Paul Pogba back to the club. The French midfielder's last stint at the club saw him return to Juventus as the world's most expensive player and leave for free at the end of his contract.
Pogba joined the Red Devils' youth ranks in 2007 before leaving on a free transfer in 2012 to join Serie A giants Juventus. He returned to Old Trafford for a reported €105 million fee in 2016 but ran down his contract to rejoin the Old Lady of Turin for free again in 2022.
Sagna believes that the now 31-year-old midfielder could still make a third return to the club, saying via Chronicle Live:
"It's a different situation today at Manchester United to when Paul was previously there. United have a young coach, a coach that has been a player, a coach that understands the situation. He will probably be willing to have a player like Paul at his training sessions. Amorim was a player himself, so I'm sure the coach will be open to seeing him getting back home because he loves United."
Sagna concluded, saying:
"I have talked many times with Paul. He loves United. The only problem was the situation when he came back. That was a spell where things didn't go as well as they should have done, but Paul wasn't the only player that struggled at United during the time he was there."
Pogba is currently without a club after his contract with the Serie A giants was terminated this year after a doping scandal.
Gary Neville has revealed that he is confident that Manchester United's prospects will move forward under the new head coach, Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils have been poor this season and currently sit in 12th place in the league after 12 games.
The 20-time English champions were held to a draw in their first game under the Portuguese tactician against Ipswich at Portman Road. A stunning Omari Hutchinson canceled out an early goal from Marcus Rashford to see the points split.
However, Neville saw enough to be optimistic about the future under Ruben Amorim, and he told Monday Night Football via Sky Sports:
"I thinking moving forward, you'll see a higher performance level once he's worked more with those players who were coming back from the international break."
Manchester United will be keen to secure their first win under their new manager when they face Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday. After a successful stint with Sporting in Portugal, Ruben Amorim is in high stock as a manager.
