Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has reacted to the Red Devils' 0-2 defeat away from home to Wolves in the Premier League. It comes as yet another embarrassing outing for Ruben Amorim's men, who slipped to 14th place in the points table.

It was yet another disappointing outing for the Red Devils on Boxing Day as they lost to Wolves, making it back-to-back defeats in the league for United.

Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes was sent off a few minutes after the break before Matheus Cunha put the home side in front in the 58th minute. Things got from bad to worse for the visitors as Hwang Hee-Chan doubled the lead for the home side deep into the stoppage time.

The result means that United, who started the game in 13th position, have now slipped to 14th after picking up just 22 points from 18 games.

Meanwhile, club legend and six-time Premier League winner Ferdinand issued a two-word response after his former side's disappointing loss to Wolves.

In his words, via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, he said:

"When we don't win, it's a step back" - Ruben Amorim reacts to Manchester United's defeat

Meanwhile, Red Devils boss Amorim was disappointed with his side's result at the Molineux Stadium, as they suffered a 0-2 loss away to Wolves.

Amorim who took charge of Manchester United in November, hasn't been able to steady the ship at Old Trafford yet. He has picked up just two wins in his first seven games in charge of the Red Devils.

Reacting to the game against Wolves, Amorim revealed that United were affected by the sending off of Fernandes, and despite being one-man down, they were still able to put up a fighting spirit.

He said via BBC:

"Of course, when you lose, when we don't win, it's a step back. It was really hard with the sending off. The goal was similar against Tottenham. Then, we tried. Even with one less guy we tried to and I think we were near something but then Wolves scored the second one. Then, in the end, we tried everything and the transition was 2-0. For us, let's continue."
