Arne Slot has refused to add fuel to rumors linking Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Liverpool. The Dutch manager stated that it was just a rumor doing rounds in the media and not something the club would comment on.
Speaking to the media ahead of their FA Cup match against Accrington Stanley, Slot stated that most of the January rumors are not true. He added that they are not going to comment on the Kvaratskhelia links.
Slot said via Standard:
“What I make of that is that it’s January. I think I said after the West Ham game not to disappoint me, please come up with all these clubs and all these players that have interest from us or the ones that don’t play a lot for us to go somewhere else. That is what’s happening now. Nine out of 10 times, 99 out of a 100 times, at the end of the window it’s clear that almost all of these stories weren’t true. So what can I comment about it? The rumours, keep going for it, but no comments from our side.”
Reports from David Ornstein on The Athletic stated that Liverpool were monitoring the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia situation. The Napoli star has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and reports suggest the Serie A side are willing to sell for €80 million.
Mamuka Jugeli, the agent of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, spoke to Sport Imedi ahead of the 2024-25 season and stated that it was time for the winger to leave Napoli. He claimed that the plan was set but the player is yet to make a decision.
He said via Goal:
"We want to leave Napoli, but now we're all waiting for the Euro 2024. With Conte, Napoli have big plans. I'm sure they will qualify for the Champions League again next season and fight for the Scudetto. But that doesn't mean that Kvaratskhelia wants to stay there, I don't mean it. I didn't talk with Khvicha about this issue, the most important thing for him is the National team. Our goal is the team that plays in the Champions League. The worst thing is that if he stays here, Khvicha will lose 1 year because of that… we are worried."
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has also been linked with Chelsea, while Saudi Pro League clubs are also said to be interested in signing the Liverpool target this month.
