"That isn't so ridiculous" – Stan Collymore suggests surprise Premier League club as 'smaller pond' for Marcus Rashford to join after leaving Manchester United

Former Liverpool star Stan Collymore has suggested that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford should think about joining Bournemouth in the future.

Over the past couple of weeks, Rashford has reportedly emerged as a potential outgoing for the Red Devils. The 27-year-old Englishman has been excluded from the 20-man squads in his club's last three matches across competitions.

In his recent column for Caught Offside, Collymore shared his honest thoughts on Rashford's future ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window. He wrote:

"Marcus Rashford should leave Manchester United. I've been saying it for probably a couple of years now, and he should either go abroad or to a progressive Premier League club. Would that be a West Ham [United] or a Brighton [& Hove Albion] or would it even be a Bournemouth?"

Opining more on Rashford's potential new destinations, he continued:

"Would the Cherries go for a big fish and see if he could go to a smaller pond and just enjoy his football on the south coast? That isn't so ridiculous – but would they be able to afford him? I think there will be takers for Rashford whether that be from Germany or Italy, but I'm not so sure about Spain."

Collymore, who represented Liverpool between 1995 and 1997, added:

"He just needs to enjoy the game and love the game again, and I wonder if for the past five or six years whether he actually ever has. He always looks as if he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. For me, it's really simple. Either go to a wild card in terms of a Bournemouth, or head abroad to somewhere like Napoli or AC Milan."

So far this campaign, the right-footed attacker has scored seven goals and registered three assists in 24 overall appearances for Manchester United.

Napoli keen to loan in Manchester United star

According to Spanish news website Fichajes.net, Napoli are interested in signing Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire on a loan deal next month. Partenopei boss Antonio Conte is said to be a fan of the defender's experience.

On the other hand, newly promoted Leicester City and Turkish side Fenerbahce are also keen to launch a temporary move for the right-footed defender.

Maguire, who left Leicester for a sum of £80 million in the summer of 2019, has recently fallen down in Manchester United's pecking order. He has started nine of his 14 appearances across all competitions for his club in the ongoing season.
