Following his two-season tenure at his boyhood club, Cornellà, Gerard Martin joined Barcelona's B team in 2023. He made his La Liga debut with the Blaugrana's A team on August 17 after replacing Alejandro Balde in a 2-1 away win against Valencia.
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski praised his club teammate Lamine Yamal and claimed to be blown away when he saw the 17-year-old's talent for the first time.
While speaking about the young Spaniard in an interview, the Poland national team captain said (via Fabrizio Romano):
"The first time I saw Lamine Yamal in training, he was 15 years old, I've seen a lot of talent in my life, but never like that: oh my God, it was amazing. How does he do that at that age? I swear it's impossible."
The La Masia graduate featured in Barcelona's A team last season and has since netted 13 goals and provided 17 assists in 67 appearances across competitions.
Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal have shared the pitch 62 times at the Catalan club, having seven joint goal participation.
