Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has downplayed fears of a crisis at the club as they prepare to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on November 23. The Cityzens have lost four successive games across competitions for the first time under Pep Guardiola, leaving them five points off the pace in the league.
Guardiola's side lost each of their last two games in the Premier League to Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion. They also lost against Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League and Tottenham in the EFL Cup Round of 16. Despite their poor form, the Cityzens remain in second place in the Premier League with 27 games left to play.
Erling Haaland spoke with Sky Sports about the situation of his team, pointing out that they are not in as bad a crisis as they have been portrayed to be. He fired a warning at Tottenham, claiming that his side are more motivated than ever to get back on track. He said:
"Yeah, we lost four in a row. It's not normal in a club like this. It hurts, it clearly does. And the motivation is bigger than ever to go on Saturday and to win the game and to get on the run again."
Manchester City will be desperate to get all three points against Tottenham at home, seeing as they face league leaders Liverpool next. With manager Pep Guardiola having only signed a new contract, his side are expected to be fired up for the remainder of the campaign.
Injuries have been unkind to the English champions this season, with star midfielder Rodri ruled out for the season following an ACL rupture. Erling Haaland has been himself for the most part this season, scoring 12 goals in 11 league games this season.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has provided a bit of an insight into his side's thinking ahead of facing Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. The Norwegian striker was in fine form for his country during the international break, scoring four goals in two UEFA Nations League games.
Haaland has seen his team struggle, losing each of their last four games across all competitions. The 23-year-old said via OneFootball that his side will go all out to win the game and try to attack their opposition all through. He said:
“It’s an important game. It’s a tough game – they always are against Tottenham but it’s also always nice games against them and I’m looking forward to it.
“We have to be ready and perform at our best – better than we have been doing in our last games. We have to start winning games – it’s what Manchester City is about. Let’s attack.”
Manchester City have lost four of their last five games, including one against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. Tottenham have also not been in the best run of form. They have lost three of their last five games across competitions, including one against Ipswich Town just before the international break.
