Vinicius Jr’s comments at halftime of the LaLiga match between Real Madrid and Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium on Friday (January 3) have surfaced. The Brazilian winger predicted that his side would score the equalizer after a foul was awarded to them, and suggested that Los Ches would succumb to the pressure.
Real Madrid produced a remarkable comeback victory against Valencia as they overturned a 1-0 deficit to win the game 2-1. While Los Blancos dominated the game early, it was Valencia who opened the scoring through Hugo Duro (27’). Real Madrid couldn’t respond before the break.
However, while in the tunnel after the first half, Vinicius Jr was filmed giving a pep talk to his teammates. He predicted that Real Madrid would secure a late victory. Kylian Mbappe was first captured saying (via Fútbol en Movistar Plus+ on X):
"We have to respond with a goal."
Vinicius replied:
"Of course, when they blow the whistle for fouls. We score a goal and they sh*t themselves. Just a little bit more, a little bit more and that's it."
It turned out to be a forgettable match for Vini as he was shown the exit door (79') after reacting angrily to a touch from Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski. The Brazilian’s prediction turned out to be true as Real Madrid won 2-1, courtesy of goals from Luka Modric (85') and Jude Bellingham (90+5').
Manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed hope that Vinicius will not be suspended following his red card against Valencia. The Italian manager rallied behind his young star, emphasizing the immense pressure and challenges the Brazilian winger faces both on and off the pitch.
After the match, Ancelotti addressed the situation with a mix of concern and support for Vinicius. The winger was sent off in the 79th minute of the game while Madrid trailed 1-0. On Vini’s red card, Ancelotti said (via BBC):
"It's difficult being in his shoes. It's not easy to endure everything he goes through, including the insults. It's not simple, but he's trying to improve. He's upset about it and has apologized [to his team-mates]. We need to look ahead. We hope he won't face a suspension."
Vinicius has scored 13 goals and provided nine assists for Los Blancos in 21 appearances this term.
