Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has stated that his team got scoring chances against Bournemouth, but they were nervous to convert them. The Red Devils suffered a 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday, December 22.
United had seven shots on target and maintained 60% possession, compared to the Cherries' five shots on goal. Dean Huijsen scored Bournemouth's first goal of the match in the 29th minute with the help of an assist from Ryan Christie.
In the second half, Noussair Mazraoui fouled Justin Kluivert and conceded a penalty in the 60th minute. Kluivert doubled the Cherries' lead by converting the spot-kick (61'). Two minutes later, Antoine Semenyo made it 3-0, slotting home a cutback from the left byline by Dango Ouattara.
After the 3-0 loss, Ruben Amorim stated that United had opportunities to score against Bournemouth, but they failed to convert them. He said (via Sky Sports):
"If you look at the game, we were not conceding anything before the first goal, we had opportunities. If we manage to score the first goal then the game should be different. We want to score but we are too nervous. We have to fight this."
The Red Devils are currently 13th in the league table with 22 points from 17 matches. Last week, they defeated Pep Guardiola's Manchester City 2-1, however, a 3-0 loss against Bournemouth has highlighted Manchester United's issues again.
Napoli are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender Harry Maguire in 2025, as per the Athletic. The Serie A giants signed Scott McTominay from United earlier this year and since then, he has played 16 matches for Napoli, bagging four goals and three assists.
Given McTominay's success in Italy, Napoli manager Antonio Conte is keen on signing another Premier League star. They see Harry Maguire as an attractive defensive reinforcement. Apart from Napoli, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are also interested in signing Harry Maguire.
The Englishman joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2019 for a reported transfer fee of £80 million from Leicester City. Since then, he has made 220 appearances across all competitions for United, bagging 12 goals and seven assists. Maguire's current contract with United will expire next summer but the club still has an option for a year's extension.
