Barcelona keeping tabs on teenage Brazil star who has impressed the club's scouts - Reports
Barcelona are looking at the Brazilian market once again for reinforcements if reports are to be believed. The club's scouts have been left impressed by Flamingo winger Guilherme Doguinha.
The Catalan club's recent acquisitions from Brazil have failed to deliver. They've spent decent sums on the likes of Arthur Melo (€40 million), Malcom (€41 million), and Vitor Roque (€30 million + €31 million add-ons). However, none of them was able to establish themselves as first-team regulars.
On the other hand, their rivals, Real Madrid, have successfully tapped into the Brazilian market with signings such as Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo. Their new signing, Endrick, also seems like he is set to follow in the path of his fellow countrymen and become a success in Spain.
According to Jijantes (via Barca Universal), Barcelona, however, are not discouraged by their lack of success in South America and have identified their next target. Doguinha is a 15-year-old winger known for his pace and trickery to go past opponents.
The teenager is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Brazilian club Flamingo but has already been earmarked by Barcelona as one for the future.
Barcelona President claims he rejected a €250 million bid for Lamine Yamal
One player who would save or earn Barcelona millions is teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular with the club as well as his national side, Spain.
Yamal came through the club's famed La Masia academy, making his debut aged 15, and became a regular in Xavi's first team last season. He also broke into Spain's squad and was a key player for La Roja as they won the 2024 European Championships.
Barcelona President Joan Laporta claimed that he rejected a record offer of €250 million for the youngster. In an interview with Barca's in-house TV channel, Laporta said [via ESPN]:
"A club came to me to sign Lamine for €250M and I said no."
The club's financial difficulties are well known, but the club President insisted that they don't have to sell their players to balance the books.
"There are those that think we have [transferred players] to balance the accounts. But that is not the case," claimed Laporta. "The players that have left have left for sporting reasons [Ousmane] Dembele, [Marc] Guiu. They won't have things as good as they did at Barca at any other club."
"We know what we are doing in the transfer market. We want those that are the best and who want to be here to stay; and we have shown that," he added.
The club are currently enjoying life under German Hansi Flick, sitting on top of the table, three points ahead of rivals Real Madrid.
