Liverpool to launch fresh attack for £50 million-rated La Liga star in January amid Arsenal interest: Reports

Liverpool are reportedly set to rejuvenate their interest in Spain and Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi, who has recently been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Zubimendi, 25, was the talk of the town earlier this summer after he opted to reject a permanent switch to the Reds. Despite the Anfield outfit reportedly triggering his exit clause, he chose to stay at his boyhood club.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are aiming to launch a fresh move to snap up Zubimendi in the upcoming January transfer window. However, they are set to face stiff competition from Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.

Should the UEFA Euro 2024 winner move to the Reds in the near future, he could prove to be transformational arrival. He would likely form a midfield trio with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch this season.

Zubimendi, who has a release clause of £50 million, has been at his boyhood club since 2011. He made his debut for Los Txuri-urdin in April 2019 and has made 204 appearances across competitions for them so far.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are also allegedly keen to sign Zubimendi.

Tottenham Hotspur icon snubs Arsenal, names Liverpool as favourites to win title this season

Tottenham Hotspur great and former Chelsea midfielder Glenn Hoddle has insisted that the Reds are the main contenders to win the Premier League title this season.

The 67-year-old was asked on talkSPORT (h/t TBR):

"Just one last one Glenn, who would be your favourites to win the Premier League? I know you can't say Arsenal, so would it be Liverpool or would it be Manchester City?"

Hoddle, who represented England 53 times from 1979 to 1988, replied:

"I can say Arsenal, but I wouldn't be able to walk down the street. I generally think Liverpool. I think they are contenders now. They have a buffer over [the Gunners] and they have to get that buffer over City. I think if they can get results against them they seriously have a chance this year."

The Merseyside outfit, who finished third last season, are atop the Premier League standings with 28 points from 11 matches so far. Manchester City are second with 23 points, while the Gunners are on 19 points now.

Arne Slot's side registered a thrilling 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium last month. The Reds will take on Pep Guardiola's club in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday (December 1).
