Real Madrid and Barcelona have reportedly suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Manchester United target Alphonso Davies. As reported by Spanish outlet AS (via Madrid Universal), the Canada international is close to agreeing on a new deal with Bayern Munich.

Davies' contract situation at the Allianz Arena saw him attract interest from some of the biggest clubs in world football. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be among the clubs interested in the 24-year-old.

After joining Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Davies established himself as a key player for the Bavarian giants over the years. He is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the world, thanks to his blistering pace and dribbling ability.

He has made 216 appearances for Bayern Munich till date, scoring 12 times while providing 34 assists. He has won 13 trophies during his time at the Allianz Arena, including five Bundesliga titles and one Champions League.

Davies' current deal at Bayern Munich expires this summer, which has encouraged several top European giants to register their interest on a free transfer. At a point in time, Real Madrid looked almost certain of getting Davies in the summer of 2025 for absolutely nothing.

Barcelona, despite their financial struggles, were also linked with the pacey full-back while Manchester United were also named as suitors. However, the Canadian now looks set to extend his deal at Bayern Munich.
