Real Madrid are reportedly keen on beating Manchester City and Liverpool to the signing of Martin Zubimendi. Los Blancos are ready to offer Dani Ceballos in a swap deal to sweeten the deal with Real Sociedad.

As per a report in Fichajes, Real Madrid have set sights on getting Zubimendi in 2025 and are exploring their options to lure the midfielder. The Spanish giants are aware of the €60 million release clause but are keen on getting him for cheaper.

The report claims that they are willing to offer Ceballos to Sociedad as a part of the swap deal. The 28-year-old is not a part of Carlo Ancelotti's plans nor the club's plans for the future.

However, Real Madrid know that they do not have an easy run-in to sign the midfielder. Manchester City and Liverpool are also keen on signing him as they look to bolster their midfield.

Pep Guardiola is looking for a replacement for Rodri, who has been ruled out with an ACL injury. The Ballon d'Or winner is expected to miss the majority of the season and could make it to the pitch late in April or May.

Liverpool tried to sign Zubimendi in the summer, but the player rejected the move. The Reds remain interested and are ready to activate his €60 million release clause.

Real Madrid target has no regret over rejected Liverpool move in the summer

Marin Zubimendi spoke to Noticias De Gipuzkoa earlier this season and admitted that he was happy at Real Sociedad. He stated that he has no regrets over his decision and added that all the rumors were in the press, and not the actual situation.

He said via GOAL:

"My philosophy is to do at home at all times what comes from within. So far it has worked out well for me. It is true that there was a lot of noise. I went through uncomfortable moments. The best thing for me was to stay here and I am happy and at peace.
"Because of the press there is a lot of noise but in the end everything is easier than all that. Of course I don't regret it, I can't think that after four or five games at the start of the season. I made my decision from within, I thought it was the best thing to do, the results don't affect me . I see potential in this team, you just have to watch us train and I'm excited about having a good season."

Martin Zubimendi has a contract until 2027 at Real Sociedad amid interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool. Manchester City are also keeping tabs and are ready to activate his release clause.
