Acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to extend his stay with Al-Nassr. The Portuguese superstar has entered the final year of his contract with the Saudi Arabian side and is yet to sign a new deal.

There's already speculation regarding the player's next move. Recent reports have suggested that Fenerbahce are interested in signing the 39-year-old, although manager Jose Mourinho has since refuted those claims.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is not considering a move to Istanbul at the moment.

“I can say 100 percent Cristiano Ronaldo is not having any talks or contacts to go to Fenerbahce. Ronaldo is not planning to go to Turkey for the next step of his career. Ronaldo did not make any contact with Jose Mourinho," said Romano.

He continued:

“They have a very good relationship, obviously two Portuguese legends, but they didn’t have any contact about Ronaldo coming to Fenerbahce. This kind of exchange is something that did not happen.”

Romano went on to add that the Portuguese legend is engaged in a discussion to extend his stay with Al-Nassr.

“Sources at Al-Nassr and sources close to the Saudi Premier League believe that Ronaldo will continue there [beyond 2025]. They believe there is a very good chance. It’s not done yet, but there are discussions to extend the contract,” said Romano.

Ronaldo has registered 11 goals and three assists from 16 games across competitions for Al-Nassr this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Al-Nassr in December 2022 after his contract with Manchester United was mutually terminated. The Portuguese has continued his goalscoring exploits in the Middle East so far, registering 69 goals and 18 assists from 80 games for the Riyadh-based side.

The five-time Ballon d'Or has missed out on the Saudi Pro League so far finishing second in his first two campaigns. Al-Nassr are currently third in the league after 11 games, eight points behind leaders Al-Ittihad.

Ronaldo has won the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023 and that remains his only trophy with the Saudi side so far. He has racked up 911 goals in his career for club and country from 1252 games.

With a new deal likely and the player showing no signs of slowing down, one wouldn't bet against him from reaching the 1000-goal mark. Interestingly, Lionel Messi has 850 goals from 1083 games in his career.
