According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund have set their eyes on Manchester City teenage star Max Alleyne. Dortmund are renowned for their impeccable recruiting policy, which spots young talents and transforms them into world-class players.
Alleyne, a 19-year-old centre-back, started his football journey at the Southampton academy before joining Manchester City’s youth ranks in 2021. His time at City’s youth level was memorable, as he won both the U-21 Premier League and the U-18 English Youth League twice each. The Englishman also captained City at the youth level, though he has yet to make his debut in the senior team.
Max Alleyne's chances of breaking into the first team could be further diminished as the Cityzens are on the verge of signing defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis from RC Lens and Palmeiras, respectively.
Alleyne’s opportunity to play in the first team of a top club in Europe may now be knocking as Dortmund are reportedly interested in him. As per Romano, the Bundesliga side have approached City for the England defender. However, Dortmund will have their work cut out to obtain Alleyne’s signature, as several other Premier League clubs are also interested in the player.
"Excl: Borussia Dortmund have made approach to explore deal for 2005 born CB Max Alleyne from Man City. Premier League clubs also keen but BVB now on it, contacts ongoing to understand deal conditions," Romano wrote on X.
The prospect of joining Dortmund will likely tickle Alleyne’s fancy, as the Bundesliga side are excellent at developing young players. Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham saw their stock rise while playing at Signal Iduna Park.
According to The Telegraph, Manchester City midfielder James McAtee is keen for a move away from the Etihad to the Bundesliga in the ongoing transfer window amid a lack of playing time.
McAtee was promoted to City’s senior team in 2023, but he has mostly been an unused substitute since he was promoted while also being loaned to Sheffield United.
He returned to City from his loan move last summer. However, his lack of playing time has persisted, as he has made only 10 appearances for Manchester City this season. The 22-year-old started only three of those 10 games, which were neither in the Premier League nor the Champions League.
As per the abovementioned source, four Bundesliga teams — Bayer Leverkusen, Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Stuttgart — are chasing James McAtee, and the player could join any of the clubs.
Despite the lack of playing time, McAtee has scored a goal for City this term. His current market value is €14 million, as per Transfermarkt.
