Real Madrid are reportedly in the fray with Newcastle United for the services of Boca Juniors winger Kevin Zenon. The Magpies are seeking a wide player up front, having failed to bring in one during the summer.

The 23-year-old Zenon has made heads turn with a series of impressive performances for his club. The Argentina Under-23 international has had 11 goal contributions in 37 outings across competitions for Boca this season, scoring four times.

O Jogo (via TBR) has reported that Newcastle are interested in the Boca winger. But Eddie Howe's side face competition from Los Blancos for Zenon, who has a reported release clause of £13 million.

The versatile Zenon can play both out wide and in midfield, making him a potentially useful addition to both the Magpies and Los Blancos. At the moment, it's not clear if either side have made an offer for the Boca player, though.

Real Madrid have made a decent start to the new season. Carlo Ancelotti's side started their campaign with a 2-0 win over reigning UEFA Europa League champions Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw in August.

Los Blancos had a slow start to their La Liga title defence, though, drawing two of their opening three games before winning five of their next six. They remain unbeaten in the league but find themselves three points behind leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona, who have 24 points from nine games.

Ancelotti's side opened their UEFA Champions League title defence with a 3-1 home wn over VfB Stuttgart. However, they slumped to a 1-0 loss at LOSC Lille in their next game.

Los Blancos returned to winning ways with a 2-0 La Liga home win over Villarreal just before the ongoing international break. They next take on Celta Vigo away on Saturday (October 19) in La Liga as they seek to close the gap on the Blaugrana.

Following the Vigo trip, Ancelotti's side welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Santiago Bernabeu three days later in the UEFA Champions League. It will be a repeat of last season's Wembley final, which Madrid won 2-0 to win the competition for a record-extending 15th time.
