Actor Armie Hammer's career is reportedly picking up steam. According to an article by Variety, published on Tuesday, January 7, 2024, the actor is set to play a crime-fighting vigilante in Uwe Boll’s latest film, The Dark Knight. Per the publication, principal photography is set to begin in Croatia on January 27.

Hammer's career came to a halt in 2021 after several women accused the actor of misconduct, r*pe, and violence. One of the women, his ex, Courtney Vucekovich, claimed that the actor frequently expressed BDSM and cannibalistic fantasies. Following a lengthy investigation, the prosecutor declined to charge the actor. However, the rumors of cannibalism have since surrounded him.

As the news spread, internet users were quick to react. One commented on the film's director, Uwe Boll, known for making video game adaptations, writing:

"wow... imagine being so outcast you have to take an uwe boll movie."

Many noted the similarities between Uwe Boll’s The Dark Knight and Christopher Nolan's Batman adaptation by the same name. Here are some comments seen on X:

"Not gonna lie it’s hilarious because just based off description it sounds like a bad ripoff of The Dark Knight," one wrote.
"And when Warner bros and DC sue for copyright infringement i’m gonna cackle," another stated.

Others wondered why Armie Hammer would choose to work with Boll.

"Uwe Boll??? That's worse than unemployment lmaoooo," one commented.
"For anyone who doesn’t know, Uwe Boll has historically been considered the worst film maker of all time. His films are so bad that people genuinely believe he makes them flop on purpose to get certain tax benefits. This is insane lmao," another added.

Some raised concerns about Armie Hammer getting a platform.

"As much as I love Batman, I’m not watching anything with his nasty a** in it. Stop platforming abusers," a person reacted.
"why is he allowed to do to this?" another questioned.

"The worm is turning, it takes time"- Armie Hammer about his career picking up recently

According to Variety, Uwe Boll's The Dark Knight is an original script written by the director himself. Armie Hammer is set to play Sanders, who turns into a vigilante, taking justice into his own hands and hunting down criminals. The plot centers around Sanders being hailed a hero on social media, while local police see him as a menace to society and want to take him down.

Citing a statement by Boll, Variety wrote:

"The story of ‘The Dark Knight’ couldn’t be a more current topic, and I’m excited to bring it to life with this excellent cast."

The film's executive producer, Michael Roesch, addressed the similarities with Nolan's Caped Crusader, stating the movie was "very different" from it, so there was "no danger of confusion."

"With Armie Hammer in the lead role and more great actors to be announced soon, and with an outstanding script, we are excited to build up on the great response we got for ‘First Shift’ and ‘Run,’ and will have another strong movie soon," Roesch added.

He is referencing Uwe Boll's recent films, the crime drama First Shift and the upcoming migrant crisis thriller Run. The former film was released on Paramount+ and was a surprise hit, charting at the No. 2 spot on the platform.

The news of the film comes just days after Armie Hammer revealed his acting career was picking up, adding that he even was "turning jobs down." During his recent appearance (January 1) on Christina Pazsitzy and Tom Segura's Your Mom’s House podcast, Hammer revealed:

"The worm is turning, it takes time," adding, "it’s slow, but generally now the conversation when my name comes up with people in the industry is, ‘Man, that guy got f*cked.’ And that feels really good. It’s really encouraging."

In October, Armie Hammer started his podcast, Armie HammerTime, which he described as a "journal" as he put his "life back together." In the first episode, he addressed the rumors surrounding him, calling them "wild." He explained that he has since accepted the claims as they "make more noise."

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. actor recently finished shooting for Travis Mills’ forthcoming western Frontier Crucible. The film stars Hammer along with Thomas Jane and William H. Macy.
