A recent Facebook post, uploaded on January 9, claimed that Christmas Chronicle actor Kurt Russell is hurt. The post, uploaded by Facebook user Hergenrother Sarah Longueira, claimed:
“Prayers up for Kurt Russell… What he’s going through right now is beyond heartbreaking.”
The post also had a picture of him with bandages on his face. It further redirected the users to a blog site called Lifepress, which then elaborated the report with alleged details. Confused internet users voiced their sorrow and despair shortly after the news spread.
However, the post is fake and the news is false, as there have been multiple similar fake posts regarding Russell in the past few days.
Additionally, outlets like EOnline have mentioned in the past that it's just makeup for his role in the movie Deepwater Horizon, where he played the role of Jimmy Harrell.
The fake post was also uploaded on Facebook by users like Crocosmiapertu, with a similar caption like Longueira’s post. However, it was later deleted. Additionally, as per Dexerto’s Thursday report, the picture also made the netizens believe that he was allegedly suffering from fresh-eating cancer.
Then, addressing the same rumor, it further said that there has been no official confirmation that Kurt Russell is ill.
He is said to be doing well, despite allegations that he was hospitalized in 2023 and had been reportedly afflicted with Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome (PJS), a rare genetic condition that can result in black patches on the skin.
Furthermore, it seemingly appears that Kurt Russell is in good health based on an Instagram image dated December 19, 2024, which shows him on the Access Daily set in September 2024, looking healthy.
Additionally, as per the same Distractify report, Kurt has denied having PJS, and although pictures of him with black lumps around his lips and a battered face have surfaced, they were shot 10 years ago while he was filming a movie.
The film was called Deepwater Horizon, in which Russell portrayed a worker on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico who survives a fatal explosion. As per the movie, the explosion reportedly killed 11 people and injured 16 more.
On Thursday, July 30, 2015, Russell and his step-daughter and actress, Kate Hudson, were seen walking around the New Orleans, Louisiana, set for the same. Kurt had the 'bloodied' and 'bruised' traces of a hard day's work, while Kate wore a bright striped romper.
Given the condition of his face, he was apparently spotted leaving what may have been the makeup department. A decade later, it appeared as though the actor might have been ill because of the purple red markings and scratches on his face, as well as a few bandages.
On the other hand, as per the same Distractify report, this isn’t the first time Kurt became the victim of such a rumor. In 2023, the actor was also the subject of death rumors.
According to reports, the rumor began with a widely shared YouTube video that was later removed and claimed Kurt Russell had passed away.
It was posted by the account The Late Actor Today. The AI-generated voice that narrated the video said that the death was still being investigated.
Additionally, Kurt Russell isn't the first person to fall prey to a death fake. Well-known figures like Terry Crews and Steve Harvey were recently implicated in similar scams as well.
Kurt is still alive and well as no information of him being ill has been recorded as of yet.
