At the start of The Calendar Killer, a man named Jules is introduced as a volunteer for an initiative called Walk Me Home, which helps individuals traveling alone at night feel safe by offering guidance and support over the phone. One night, Jules receives a call from Klara, a terrified woman who initially struggles to speak. Jules senses her fear and encourages her to share her concerns.

Klara reveals that the notorious Calendar Killer, who has been terrorizing the city for months, gave her an ultimatum two weeks earlier on December 6: either she or her husband, Martin, would die. Klara discloses she cannot return home due to her abusive husband, who dismissed her fears and refused to involve the police. Seeking safety, she fled to her lake house but was overcome by despair and attempted to end her life.

Jules convinces her to reconsider, and she ultimately chooses to live. He enlists his father's help to locate Klara, but before they arrive, she discovers another blood-painted death threat at the lake house. Fleeing in panic, she mistakes Jules' father for her husband. Klara collapses while escaping but is fortunately rescued by a passerby named Hendrick, adding another layer of suspense to the harrowing narrative.

While fleeing in Hendrick's car, Klara was intercepted by her husband, Martin, who tracked her down and assaulted Hendrick. Until this point, it was unclear if her claims of abuse were real or influenced by her dissociative disorder, which Martin often used to discredit her.

Klara later revealed to Jules that Martin had taken her to a secret club where influential people engaged in exploitative activities. Martin drugged her and allowed others to torture her, but Klara managed to escape, leading her to contact Jules for help.

When Klara was forced into Martin's car, it became evident she was indeed a victim. He gaslighted her, blaming her for his abusive behavior, and assaulted her further. In a disturbing moment, he forced her to eat seafood despite knowing her aversion, highlighting how abuse extended beyond physical harm to psychological manipulation. Klara felt trapped, struggling to find a way out of the cycle of fear and control.

The truth about Jules: Was he the Calendar Killer?

The biggest revelation in The Calendar Killer came when Klara entered her home after locking Martin in the car and taking the keys. She discovered Jules, who had been tracking her all along, sitting inside her house. He had held her babysitter, Vigo, captive and confessed to being the Calendar Killer. Jules demanded Klara kill Martin if she wanted to survive, revealing his deeply personal motivation for his crimes.

Jules' wife, Dajana, had suffered years of abuse and battled depression, eventually taking her own life. Tragically, her attempt to protect their children backfired when a fire broke out, killing everyone except one daughter, Fabienne, who later succumbed to her injuries. This devastating loss turned Jules into a vigilante targeting abusive families.

When Martin escaped the car and confronted Jules, he was overpowered and got tied up alongside Klara. Jules threatened to kill Klara if she didn't kill Martin before midnight. However, before he can execute his plan, his father arrives and fatally shoots him. After recognizing his handwriting from media reports, his father had identified Jules as the Calendar Killer.

Despite his efforts to save his son, Jules' father knew there was no redemption for him. Jules died, marking the end of his violent crusade.

Did Klara expose Martin?

Klara knew she needed to escape her abusive environment and expose her husband, Martin, a powerful secretary of state who could easily avoid accountability. She realized that relying on law enforcement was futile and sought undeniable evidence to reveal Martin's true nature.

In the climactic moments of The Calendar Killer, Klara secretly recorded Martin on her phone after he assaulted Hendrick and forced her into his car. In their conversation, Martin admitted to his abusive behavior, shifting the blame onto Klara. She made the recording public, exposing Martin's cruelty. When he tried to garner sympathy during a public statement, the evidence turned the tide. Authorities arrested Martin, and he was sentenced to five years in prison.

The film's conclusion highlighted the need for stronger laws to prevent abuse and ensure victims receive the support they need to break free, even when facing powerful adversaries.
