Unstoppable is a biographical sports drama film directed by William Goldenberg from a script by Eric Campanella, Alex Harris, and John Hindman. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024, before releasing theatrically on December 6, 2024.

The film tells the true story of Anthony Robles, who became an NCAA Division I wrestling champion despite being born without a leg. Throughout his journey, he overcame many obstacles and even suffered a loss during the national championship film. However, eventually, he defeated Matt McDonough to become the national champion.

The film stars Jharrel Jerome as Robles, and Jennifer Lopez as Anthony's mother, Judy Robles. Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Shawn Hatosy, and Don Cheadle, among several others.

Unstoppable is available for streaming exclusively on Prime Video. Here's how the platform describes the plot:

"Unstoppable is the inspiring true story of Anthony Robles who was born with one leg but whose unbreakable resolve empowered him to defy the odds and pursue his dreams."

It continues:

"With the unwavering love and support of his devoted mother and the encouragement of his coaches, Anthony fights through adversity to earn a spot on the Arizona State Wrestling team on his quest to become an NCAA Champion."

Anthony Roubles defeated Matt McDonough

In the Unstoppable ending, Anthony Roubles defeated the former national champion Matt McDonough to win the 2011 NCAA wrestling championship in the 125-pound weight category.

He had reached the final stage in the previous year as well but lost to the same opponent. Anthony was seemingly intimidated by Matt, who had never been defeated before. He charged his opponent aggressively and lost focus, which gave Matt McDonough an opening to pin him down, costing Anthony the championship.

However, in the 2011 championship final, Anthony did not make the same mistake again. He was more focused and composed and fought with his natural technique, surprising his opponent. The match went on for three rounds, and after a fierce wrestle, Anthony Roubles won the national championship.

Judy Roubles got a doctorate from Arizona State University

Unstopable's end credit scene not only provides information about Anthony Roubles' incredible achievement after his national championship win but also sheds light on the equally amazing achievement of his mother, Judy Roubles.

Judy, played by Jennifer Lopez, suffered an abusive domestic life. Her husband, Rich Robles, played by Bobby Cannavale, was a devastating influence on her and her children. His presence in the house created hostility due to his erratic behavior and sudden burst of anger. In one flashback scene, it is shown that he made it clear to young Anthony that he was not his real father, and he should be grateful that he is being taken care of by someone.

Rick was condescending towards Anthony, belittling his achievement, and giving bogus lectures about being a 'real man.' At one time, he left Judy and the family, only to return when he was fired from his job. Later, it was revealed that he had not paid the mortgage of the house for six months.

Judy overcame all the obstacles and kept her family together, even carrying the financial burden after Rick left. The end credit says that she graduated from Arizona State University in 2014 and earned a Doctorate of Education in 2022. Currently, she is the Assistant Dean of Students at ASU.
