American actress Jenny Slate has shown support for costar Blake Lively after the latter filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni and team alleging se*ual harassment and spearheading a media smear campaign to tarnish her reputation.

Baldoni announced in 2019 that he would be adapting Colleen Hoover’s best-selling 2016 novel It Ends With Us into a film. The film hit the big screens on August 9, 2024, and collected $350 million as per BBC.

However, It Ends With Us's successful run was hampered when Lively filed a lawsuit against its director and co-star Justin Baldoni. Rumors of a rift between the two surfaced when Baldoni did the majority of the presser ahead of the film's premiere solo and was rarely seen with the rest of the cast. It was also discovered that Hoover, Slate, and Lively do not follow director/actor Baldoni back on Instagram.

Jenny Slate, who has recently shown her support to Lively, told Today.com in a December 24 statement:

"As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation..."

The complaint that was filed on December 20 by Blake Lively, as per TODAY.com, informs that Lively has accused her costar/director Baldoni of se*ual harassment while filming It Ends with the Us. Allegedly, Baldoni also attempted to ruin her reputation and participated in a PR campaign ahead of the film’s release to tarnish her image.

Blake Lively alleged that Jamey Heath, producer of It Ends With Us also se*ually harassed the actress.

According to the complaint, Baldoni allegedly engaged in "invasive, unwelcome, unprofessional, and se*ually inappropriate behavior," as a result of which Lively has experienced "grief, fear, trauma, and extreme anxiety."

Wayfarer Studios, which is co-founded by Justin Baldoni; Steve Sarowitz, another co-founder of the studio; Jed Wallace; Jennifer Abel and Mellissa Nathan, who were supposedly involved in the PR campaign, have also been named in the filing for allegedly taking part in tarnishing Lively’s public image.

The lawsuit also claimed that Baldoni had shown Lively explicit images and videos, enquired about her s*x life, and added intimate scenes in the film, which was not originally in the contract.

In a statement to the New York Times released on December 21, Lively talked about the aforementioned filing and said:

“I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted. "

Meanwhile, Bryan Freedman, Justin Baldoni’s lawyer has called all accusations mentioned above false and told New York Times:

"False, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt."

Freeman additionally claimed that Lively had instigated problems during the production of It Ends With Us and threatened not to promote the project.
