Meek Mill was recently asked to comment on Drake suing Universal Music Group, however, the American rapper tweeted about how he was impacted by Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar's rap feud. An X user @ARSONALDAREBEL asked Mill to comment on the UMG lawsuit given that Meek Mill and Drizzy also shared a history of rap beef in 2015.

In his tweet dated January 17, 2025, Mill responded to the X user stating:

"Label told me don’t drop nothing .. I went against that and dropped dc4 mixxtape “Shari Bryant backed me herself” 90k first week to heat up … I couldn’t make any playlist either that had me confused a lil losing confidence but I knew 80% was campaign! Influence for the net only."

In another tweet Meek Mill said that it all comes down to connections and once he started owning companies, he wanted to be in conversation with the "high level shakers and owners." The rapper said that if he made over 100 million on a label, it wasn't only because of the business he got but also due to dealing with the top people at companies to achieve top results.

In his third tweet which is seemingly a continuation of the point Mill was trying to make describing the impact of Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar's beef on his career, the rapper called himself a "champ."

"I loss many things I learn from them and move on! 2025 my team right now ima make a 100m off rap because I was in a system so long ima break that jawn I time for the “mime,”" Meek Mill said.

What was the feud between Drake and Meek Mill? Details explored

According to a report by Genius from December 2018, Meek Mill and Drizzy's collaboration Going Bad which was recorded in 2018 and released in January 2019, marked the end of the feud between the two rappers. While Drake and Mill collaborated on Amen in 2012, their beef started in 2015 after Meek Mill accused Drake of using a ghostwriter in their collaboration R.I.C.O. via X. In the now-deleted tweet from July 2015, Meek Mill claimed:

“Stop comparing drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out!”

This led to Drake dropping diss tracks called Back to Back and Charged Up wherein the rapper also took a dig at Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill's girlfriend at the time, in the former track.

"Is that a world tour or your girl's tour? I know that you gotta be a thug for her," the lyrics stated.

Then, Meek Mill dropped Wanna Know followed by Drizzy's track 3Peat at OVO Fest. However, the One Dance rapper never released the track officially. The feud between the two rappers continued with them commenting on each other indirectly via tracks for some years.

Drake and Meek Mill settled their differences in September 2018 when the Passionfruit rapper called Mill on stage to perform Dreams and Nightmares (Intro) during a show in Boston. Additionally, in an interview on SiriusXM’s Hip Hop Nation in September 2023, Meek Mill commented on how the feud transformed his relationship with Drizzy for the better.

“We got that honesty where we can leave it on the table, and we can walk away and feel good about that. And we ain’t had that before the beef,” Mill said.

In other news, on January 15, 2025, Drake filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group accusing the label of defamation over Kendrick Lamar's diss track Not Like Us. The rapper claimed that he suffered "economic harm" due to UMG and Spotify's manipulation of the streams of Lamar's track. However, UMG has denied any wrongdoings and dubbed Drizzy's claims untrue.
