A recent tweet claiming that Kanye West, professionally known as Ye, burned his tongue while drinking hot chocolate went viral on X on January 20, 2024. The post, uploaded to the social media platform by user @DailyNoud, claimed the rapper's condition resulted in his upcoming album's delay.
In September 2024, West teased his first solo project in three years, his eleventh studio album, titled Bully. The viral post on @DailyNoud, which received over 2.8 million views at the time, presumably referred to Bully as the album that will be allegedly delayed.
However, this post holds no truth as no major media houses have shed light on the alleged incident. Neither has West confirmed anything regarding his project's delay. Moreover, @DailyNoud, the X page that purported this claim, is a parody account, as mentioned in the page's bio. The bio also confirms that the stories mentioned on the page are fake.
Kanye West has yet to announce a release date for his upcoming album. The rapper recently released his collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign in August 2024, titled Vultures 2, the sequel to their February 2024 album Vultures. The series was touted as a trilogy, with Vultures 3 in the works. However, it is unclear when the third part will be released.
Kanye West revealed to his fans that he was working on a new solo album during a Vultures 2 listening event in China in September 2024. According to XXL Magazine, the rapper debuted two songs expected to be in the album, Beauty and the Beast and Preacher Man.
"It's been a long time comin'/Fresh new tides, I'm still runnin'. I still think about it every night and day to try to stay away, to keep my audience/Don’t take this disrespect, I'm sitting here trying to redirect," West rapped in Beauty and the Beast.
Following the track's debut performance, Ye's longtime collaborator Mike Dean commented on Instagram that the song was a "Donda leftover," referring to the rapper's 2021 album. Bully will be Kanye West's eleventh solo album following Donda.
In October 2024, Kanye West unveiled the artwork for the upcoming album on his Instagram. The cover art showed a close-up image of a man with closed eyes and mouth open, showing off a titanium grill on his teeth like the rapper's. Ye said the album art was created by Japanese photographer Daidō Moriyama, famous for his black-and-white pictures.
That same month, American journalist Touré claimed Kanye West was working on the album in Tokyo. In a video uploaded to his social media platforms, the journalist claimed Bully was a "concept album" that West wanted to create "pretty much by himself," adding:
"It’s a concept album and he plans to be the only producer on it. Traditionally, Kanye is the product of a team, there are producers helping him, there are writers helping him, he comes with the big ideas but there’s others in. Not this time. This time, Kanye is gonna make this pretty much by himself. A fresh chapter in his life because in Tokyo he can be who he wants to be."
In January 2025, the rapper uploaded pictures of him working in his studio. In another post uploaded on January 20, he praised his daughter, North, for making him "love music again."
Kanye West added that he "chopped up beats" for both his album and hers. In March 2024, North announced her debut album, Elementary School Dropout, during a Vultures listening party in Phoenix. Ye and North had previously worked on the track TALKING from Vultures 1.
In other news, Kanye West recently announced his plans to bring his "DROAM" city plans to fruition. According to Hypebeast, the rapper took to social media to share the framework for his conceptual self-sustaining city, which will reportedly be in the Middle East.
