Sean “Diddy” Combs’ former bodyguard, Gene Deal, recently sat for an interview with The Art of Dialogue, where he discussed the former’s relationship with late rapper Nipsey Hussle. Deal seemingly hinted at Combs allegedly playing a role in the passing of Hussle. However, it is worth noting that the same has not been substantiated by law enforcement.

Gene Deal praised Nipsey Hussle in his October 12 interview and called him a “child of God.” He further stated that Hussle had mentioned to Diddy that he wanted his music to feel like "life after death." Deal added:

“He [Nipsey Hussle] was already doing a great job himself with the team that he had. But somebody convinced him that that would be good look for him [associating with Sean Combs]. But, no disrespect, he got what he asked for.”

For those uninitiated, Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot 10 times outside his store, Marathon Clothing, in Los Angeles. He was 33 years old at the time of his passing and is survived by his partner Lauren London and two children.

“You gotta watch what you say to demons”: Gene Deal discusses Nipsey Hussle’s relationship with Diddy

Gene Deal shared that Nipsey Hussle had once met Diddy and told him he wanted his music “to have the same feel of that life after death.” Deal also added that Diddy was helping Hussle in some way at that point in his career. Gene Deal said:

“Now, you’re taking a spiritual person who’s asking for something... Biggie got murdered and he went on to sell about 10 million albums, or 10 million copies. I was saying, you gotta watch what you say to demons, because it just might come true.”

Combs had appeared on Hussle’s Young N**ga track from his Victory Lap album. Speaking about Hussle and the friendship they forged, Combs said in an interview with The Real 92.3’s The Cruz Show in September 2022:

“He was like, ‘Yo man, I want you to mentor me.’ Nip had no ego. Nip came to me saying, ‘I want you to mentor me. I want to get into real estate. I want you to teach me all your business secrets!’ I was like, whenever you got questions, pull up! …We had started really getting extra close and tight and then everything happened.”

Further, Nipsey Hussle’s wife, Lauren London, opened up about life after the former passed away, revealing that Combs helped her through the difficult time. While appearing on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast in July 2022, London said:

“Puff pulled me aside and was like, 'Look Boog. You have shown everybody what it looks like to hold a man down and to love him. Now show them what it looks like when it all crumbles. That's your responsibility.' He was like, 'Show up with your head up.’”

Currently, Sean Combs remains behind bars as he awaits his May 5, 2025, trial after facing charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
