8 shows to watch if you liked 'Aile'

Aile, the Turkish drama show made its debut on March 7, 2023. The series, written by Kakan Bonomo and directed by Ahmed Katiksiz, is based on the Italian-American television series The Sopranos. The contentious and troublesome issues surrounding the family in this play are the focus of Aile, which means "family."

Aile is about Aslan (Kivanc Tatlitug), a young guy who manages a nightclub and is the head of the criminal family enterprise in Soykanlar. In contrast, Devin (Serenay Sarikaya) is a young and accomplished psychologist. Devin and Aslan meet while traveling to Istanbul. To know how the show unfolds and ends, watch Aile on Netflix. In Elite, a fictional, wealthy high school known as Las Encinas caters to privileged students from wealthy families. It is a Spanish teen drama series developed by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona.

The show initially focuses on the love and social connections of three working-class children who enroll at Las Encinas through a scholarship program.

It mostly concentrates on the hardships of its main characters and examines topics including classism, homos*xuality, parental neglect, and illegal habits like drug use, crime, and murder, despite occasional amusing moments.

The bond among the high schoolers is similar to the bond among the family members in Aile in that both want to be heard and seen

2) The Sopranos (USA)

An Italian-American mobster, Tony Soprano from New Jersey, shares his problems during therapy with psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi. As a mobster, he shares with her that he struggles to balance his role as the head of a criminal organization with that of his family life. Throughout the series, Tony grudgingly attends these therapy sessions and he is treated with anxiety-related panic episodes.

In The Sopranos, Tony is seen risking his life multiple times and is in conflict with his uncle Junior, his wife, other mafia families, non-mafia criminals, and the Lupertazzi family of NYC.

With Aile being based on The Sopranos, it is evident that there are more similarities than differences. Both Aile and The Sopranos deal with criminal organizations, making it harder to unite on family matters

3) Yemin

In the Turkish drama series Yemin, which is frequently marketed as The Promise, Gökberk Demirci and Özge Yağız play the main roles. Seasons 1-2 of Yemin series were directed by Ayhan Özen. Hakan Arslan and Reyhan Pekar have been directing the serial since season three. The setting for this serial is in Istanbul, Turkey.

Resenting the arranged marriage, Hikmet takes his niece Reyhan to Istanbul to wed his son Emir. They fall in love despite their early difficulties, but Reyhan is put under pressure by Emir's mother and a phony video. Manipulations complicate Emir's life even further with the passing away of someone close to him.

In season 3, catastrophe hits, with violence and treachery tearing his family apart. Both Aile and Yemin examine the loyalty of and within family members in dire situations.

4) Dolunay

The Turkish drama series Dolunay (international title: Full Moon) is shown on Star TV. The network debuted it on July 4 and ran it through December 31, 2017. Nazmiye "Nazlı" Pınar, played by Özge Gürel, is a young culinary student who hopes to open her own eatery.

Ferit (played by Can Yaman) and Nazlı have a complex romantic relationship in Dolunay. Ferit cheats when Demet, his ex-girlfriend, tries to win him back and strains his relationship with Nazlı.

But it is Nazlı who betrays Ferit by having an affair with Hakan. Since betrayal and trust are major elements in their relationships, this adds a great deal of drama to the narrative.

In Dolunay, the relationship dynamics are tested between the two main leads, and in Aile, the relationship dynamics are tested among the family members.

5) Underbelly (Australia)

The Australian television show Underbelly is a true crime-drama in which, every series is based on actual occurrences.

Journalists John Silvester and Andrew Rule's book Leadbelly: Inside Australia's Underworld served as the inspiration for the first series. The title 'Underbelly' is also taken from a series of 12 true crime anthologies that were previously written by the same authors.

Each season focuses on a different criminal underworld, exploring the lives of law enforcement, dishonest politicians, and notorious criminals as they fight ruthlessly for dominance, riches, and power. The show is well known for its unapologetic depiction of crime, betrayal, and carnage, and it is based on real events from Australia's brutal history.

Though one deals with family and the other with criminals, both shows share a similar central theme: loyalty and not crossing the line, whether in business or family matters.

6) Kara Para Aşk (Turkey)

Kara Para Aşk, which translates to "Black Money Love," is a Turkish television show. There are 164 short international episodes and 54 longer Turkish episodes in the series.

Devoted investigator Ömer Demir (Engin Akyürek) has a modest existence and is getting married to his fiancée, Sibel Andaç. Both his best pals, Arda and Pelin, and his older brother, Hüseyin, work as detectives. A prosperous family's accomplished artist Elif Denizer (Tuba Büyüküstün) resides in Rome.

Her father, businessman Ahmed Denizer, organizes a surprise party for her 31st birthday when she comes to Istanbul. But after Ömer takes Sibel off at home later that evening, a murder inquiry starts.

When Sibel and Ahmed Denizer are discovered dead in a car, doubts are raised about Sibel's involvement. The mystery is further complicated when Ömer becomes involved in the investigation and discovers a connection to a diamond.

Love and revenge are the common themes between both the shows Aile and Kara Para Aşk.

Sarah Williams and Louise Hooper are the creators and directors of the four-episode thriller television series Flesh and Blood in the United Kingdom.

Three adult siblings display that things are not always what they seem behind the surface of middle-class Sussex life. They react with a mixture of pleasure, hope, and indignation when their recently widowed mother, Vivien, falls in love with a new man, Mark, and presents him to Jake, Natalie, and Helen.

Every sibling has their issues, and as they suspect that Mark might be pursuing their inheritance, tensions increase and family connections are tested.

Ailen and Flesh and Blood both deal with personal and moral conflicts that seem to constantly arise due to the hidden secrets and troubled pasts of the characters.

In the action-crime-thriller television show Mirzapur, the person who has an iron fist Akhandanand Tripathi is a multimillionaire carpet exporter and the crime lord of Mirzapur. His son Munna is a despicable and ambitious successor who will stop at nothing to continue his father's empire.

He encounters Ramakant Pandit, a respectable lawyer, and his sons Guddu and Bablu via an event at a wedding procession. The foundation of this lawless metropolis is threatened as it spirals into a game of ambition, power, and greed.

In the same way that loyalty is tested among the gangs in Mirzapur, loyalty within the family is put to the test in Aile
