German crime comedy Murder Mindfully season 1 brings a darkly humorous new series on Netflix starting October 31, 2024. It's based on Karsten Dusse's hilarious crime novel of the same name, which Doron Wisotzky wrote for television.

The Tom Schilling starrer follows a top-flight attorney, who, after experiencing burnout on his job, went into a mindfulness retreat. However, instead of finding some much-needed life-work balance, he unexpectedly becomes a murderer. But, if he has learned something from the retreat, it's how to stay calm despite tense situations, like the mafia coming for him.

The Last Kingdom's Emily Cox, Michael Ihnow and Sascha Alexander Gersak join Schilling in the cast list.

When will Murder Mindfully season 1 release?

Murder Mindfully season 1 will be available to watch from October 31, 2024. The first season of the crime comedy series will have eight episodes, which will reportedly drop on the same day.

Where to watch Murder Mindfully season 1?

The new German crime comedy will drop on Netflix on its release day and will be exclusively available to watch there. The episodes won't be available for streaming on any other platform.

Those who don't have a Netflix can subscribe at a cost of $6.99 a month for a standard plan with ads, while ad-free streaming costs $15.49.

Cast and characters in the series

Murder Mindfully season 1 stars Tom Schilling as Bjorne Diemel, a top-rated lawyer turned murderer.

The German actor-producer has been in the business since the late 1990s and has worked on 70 projects on television and films in German and English. Some of his better-known works are Before the Fall, A Coffee in Berlin, Point Blank and his recent feature, A Million Minutes.

What is Murder Mindfully season 1 all about?

The show's story centers around Schilling's Bjorn Diemel, a husband, father and top-notch lawyer with little to no work-life balance. As he struggles with burnout and hopes to spend more quality time with his family and keep his wife from leaving him, he tries to turn his life around.

Bjorn's answer to his problems is to enter a mindfulness class, and it's successful. The class helped him learn mindfulness techniques, which he later applied to his mafia clients, like the brutal and ruthless mafia boss Dragan Sergowicz and his cronies..

In fact, he's become too mindful that he can keep his calm and cool even when he has to bloody his hands with a few murders to solve his problems.

Is there a trailer for Murder Mindfully season 1?

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the German limited series, showing Schilling's Bjorn Diemel's journey to mindfulness. The two-minute trailer starts with Bjorn meditating somewhere in a woody outdoors, narrating:

"I'm not a violent person. Quite the opposite. I've never been in a fight my entire life. I didn't k*ll anyone until I was 42."

The next scene sees him on what appears to be one of his crime scenes. He's standing over a dead body while wearing full-body gear and a mask and attempting to use a chainsaw on the victim.

He also narrated his life before becoming a killer, showing his high-profile job as a lawyer. Schilling narrates how he was taken advantage of by his clients — letting him do their dirty work, but they never "invited (him) to the ball."

The trailer also shows his family, whom he supports using the dirty money from his mafia clients. It's also revealed that his wife brought him the idea of joining the mindfulness class, which was something he didn't believe in intially but it worked. And soon, he's "breathing mindfully" through murders.
