The official synopsis of the episode titled Survived: Dianna D’Aiello reads,

"When a pregnant woman is found brutally beaten in her apartment, the race is on to find out whether she’s a serial killer’s latest target – or if her attacker is hiding in plain sight."

What happened to Dianna D’Aiello?

Dianna D’Aiello resided in Riverside, California, with her husband, Kevin Green, with whom she was about to share a child named Chantel Marie. Diana had met Kevin, a married man, at the age of 18 or 19, and by 21 the two were living a married life.

On the fateful night of September 30, Dianna and Kevin invited some friends. The neighbors reported that they spent the evening with their friends before Kevin left the house to get hold of some food, cannabis, and alcohol for their company.

The same night, Dianna was found beaten and with her skull battered in her Tustin apartment the same night.

According to Kevin's alibi, he had allegedly returned home to find Dianna groaning in pain when he dialled 911. As Dianna was rushed to the nearby healthcare facility, she underwent an emergency C-section as the placenta had come off during the possible struggle.

The unborn baby did not survive as the placenta was found detached. Meanwhile, Dianna suffered brain damage and the hospital deduced that the injury was not due to a gunshot but from blunt force.

Moreover, the timeline of events was difficult to determine as Dianna was diagnosed with amnesia and aphasia. She was unable to recall the incident leaving the perpetrator at large. On the same note, Kevin provided a detailed account of the incident mentioning that he had noticed a man standing outside their home.

Kevin mentioned that he had left the kitchen door ajar so that he could slip back in when he returned. The police traced his alibi and found it to be a reliable account. However, Dianna showed progress in health and claimed that Kevin had s*xually assaulted her. She further claimed that Kevin had hit her on the head with metal keys.

Dianna D’Aiello managed to live and leads a happy life now. Kevin Lee Green served 17 years for the charges of assault with a deadly weapon and second-degree murder of his unborn daughter.

Kevin maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal, while Dianna stuck to her claim that it was Kevin who attacked her. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years.

Riverside faced a series of violent crimes by Gerald Parker, known as the "Bedroom Basher," around the time of Dianna D’Aiello's assault. In 1996, DNA evidence connected Parker to several attacks, including Dianna's, exonerating Kevin, who had spent over 16 years in prison.
