Sami Zayn is one of several stars who have appeared on both RAW and SmackDown over the last few months. The first appearances were to set up the eventual Bloodline WarGames match.
Since Roman Reigns didn't recruit anyone, it fell to the former Intercontinental Champ and The Usos. The Bloodline dominated weekly programming leading up to Survivor Series, and they've continued to cross lines after the big event.
Zayn traveled to the blue brand to presumably talk to Nick Aldis about Solo Sikoa crashing RAW. He ended up in a beatdown to close his segment. Zayn may move to SmackDown permanently in 2025 for the following four reasons.
Excluding an injury to AJ Styles, SmackDown currently has about 12 heroic stars for fans to cheer. Cody Rhodes and LA Knight are the obvious full-timers. The problem is three other top faces are part-timers.
Reigns, Randy Orton, and Jimmy Uso are either hurt in the storyline or only show up twice a month. The blue brand needs more good guys than just Rhodes kissing babies and shaking hands, especially with the three-hour shift.
Half of the faces are also on tag teams—The Street Profits and Motor City Machine Guns. If Zayn moves to the blue brand, he can help balance the roster a bit.
One reason Sami Zayn could move to SmackDown in 2025 is to face many new opponents. He’s already faced Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship and Intercontinental title.
He won and lost the same title to current Intercontinental Champion, Bron Breakker. Zayn has also battled The Judgment Day and other heels on RAW.
It wouldn't be a new feud, but moving to Friday nights could prolong his feud with Solo Sikoa and his minions.
Moving to SmackDown will give him a new set of younger opponents to face, such as Carmelo Hayes (again), Austin Theory, Santos Escobar, and others. Zayn is great and could even revisit a feud with current United States Champ Shinsuke Nakamura.
In terms of roster movement, if Zayn moves to SmackDown like Braun Strowman, someone from the blue brand can move to RAW. Many stars, including LA Knight, could use a change.
He’s been thrust into The Bloodline saga while Roman Reigns waits on the sidelines for his match at the premiere of RAW on Netflix. Sami is a main-event level performer, even if he's never won a major title.
That would necessitate a similar star going the other way to RAW. Even Hayes could move to Monday nights since he's probably fed up with General Manager Nick Aldis.
One big reason Sami could move to SmackDown is to have another feud with Kevin Owens. Despite having some logic behind some of his words, Owens is now a full-blown heel after attacking Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
Zayn is clearly still riding The Bloodline train since he quickly joined them after Roman Reigns returned at SummerSlam. It may have taken a few weeks, but he eventually rejoined the OG Bloodline.
Owens is on a mission against anyone aligned with Roman Reigns. It just happens that his best friend chose to return to the side of his greatest enemy.
The promo exchanges would be amazing. Revisiting the feud in 2025 would certainly be worthy of a WrestleMania match this year.
