WWE officials have a big decision to make after Jade Cargill was found lifeless on the hood of a car in the parking lot on the latest SmackDown. She was blindsided by a mystery attacker but, according to reports, is legitimately injured and will miss three months. Bianca Belair accompanied her to the hospital.
The EST wasn't around to help out her WarGames allies when they were attacked by their Survivor Series opponents later on SmackDown.
Since the Champion can no longer defend the title, how will WWE address the Women's Tag Team title situation? The next five duos could replace Cargill and Belair as the next Women's Tag Champs.
Naomi, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill have popped in and out of an ongoing friendship in 2024. The trio beat Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 40 but went in different directions after the show.
Belair and Cargill have been embroiled in the tag team division. Naomi has worked with Bayely on and off as well, but The Storm and EST think they are The Glow's only friends.
If WWE does what it did when Sonya Deville was injured last summer, they could do so again for Belair.
Piper Niven just took the title, and Chelsea Green remained a Champion. They could as easily do that for one of the top stars in the company.
WWE's booking of the titles has hurt the rest of the division. Belair and Cargill already beat the only credible teams in the division - Damage CTRL, Liv Morgan/Raquel Rodriguez, and Nia Jax/Tiffany Stratton.
Some of those matches were to build to WarGames, but it didn't help the major singles Champions of RAW and SmackDown. With the super faces potentially losing the titles, WWE could pivot to have one of its top heel duos carry the gold.
Morgan and Rodriguez were the champs last summer until Rhea Ripley injured them. They could revisit that history and rub it in Mami's face.
If WWE wants to keep featuring Belair on most premium live events, they could provide her with a mystery partner. It would be a good way to tease a return, but it could lead to a possible breakup with big ramifications.
Charlotte Flair is no stranger to having titles so bookers could slot her in as a mystery partner upon her return. The two alpha females were heading toward a potential match last year before The Queen suffered an unfortunate knee injury.
Having Flair as a mystery partner would be a good idea instead of immediately thrusting her into the WWE Women's title picture upon her return. She's always in the Championship chase, and this could be a way to give other women the chance to win gold.
If not Flair, Kelani Jordan could get a brief call-up. Shotzi could be a good choice since she allied with Belair for last year's WarGames.
Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton also fell to Cargill and Belair within the last month. Every big opportunity between the squads has seen the 2024 Queen of the Ring and Stratton fall.
If WWE wants to add another layer to their tenuous alliance, Stratton and Jax could win the titles. Doing so would keep them closer and make a potential cash-in even more effective.
Should they win the titles and Stratton is pinned, Jax can snap on her. The Center of the Universe can then pay her back by cashing in her Money in the Bank contract.
This could be the best option due to the dynamics in the friendships between Naomi, Belair, Cargill, and Bayley. The Role Model and Naomi were friends long before both Belair and Cargill joined WWE.
Despite that, The EST and The Storm have acted like they're Naomi's only friends. They shooed Bayley away ahead of Naomi's big title match with Jax. While Belair has grounds to distrust The Role Model, Cargill doesn't since she's only been in WWE for about a year.
If the belts were vacated, having Bayley and Naomi win them would likely cause more tension with Belair. Naomi hasn't stuck up for Bayley. Instead, she lets The EST and Cargill treat her like a waiter. Belair's distrust and hatred could eventually lead to a much-needed heel turn and a new leaf.
