5 reasons why CM Punk is the final member of the OG Bloodline team for Survivor Series: WarGames

Paul Heyman and CM Punk shocked the world when both returned to SmackDown and joined Roman Reigns' side for Survivor Series: WarGames.

The Head of the Table was unable to reach Heyman via phone on last week's show. The Wiseman returned from a several-month hiatus this week after Solo Sikoa's group put him through a table.

After a triumphant return to SmackDown, the Wiseman not only helped his Tribal Chief but also played on years of history with one of his other prominent clients.

CM Punk is the final member of the OG Bloodline team for Survivor Series: WarGames for the next five reasons.

#5. CM Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames last year

Survivor Series: WarGames will forever be known as the show where CM Punk returned to WWE after nearly a decade. Last year's event emanated from Chicago and involved several stars Punk has crossed paths with since his return.

He feuded with Drew McIntyre for much of 2024 and has teased a bigger angle with Seth Rollins. Sami Zayn and Jey Uso were members of the winning team at last year's event and will compete again this year.

Cody Rhodes also competed in the WarGames contest. Having Punk compete a year after his triumphant return at the same event fits into the historical storytelling.

CM Punk hasn't been seen since the RAW after Bad Blood. The Voice of the Voiceless defeated McIntyre at Bad Blood inside Hell in a Cell.

It was the culmination of the best WWE feud of 2024. The physical toll necessitated a brief hiatus from in-ring competition. Now that he should be finished with The Scottish Warrior, Punk can move on to different feuds and even a potential win at the Royal Rumble.

Joining the OG Bloodline team for Survivor Series: WarGames gives him a meaningful role at one of the biggest PLEs on the calendar.

#3. CM Punk helped bring Roman Reigns to the main roster

When CM Punk was World Champion with Paul Heyman by his side, he brought three newcomers from NXT to the main roster as backup. It just happened to be at the 2012 installment of Survivor Series.

Punk had a hand in creating the Shield. Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Reigns preserved his title run by taking out both Ryback and John Cena in the same match.

The Best in the World was instrumental in Roman Reigns getting a spot on the main roster, so in a way, he was partially responsible for creating Reigns. Now a decade later, Punk is circling back to that history by joining Reigns at Survivor Series: WarGames.

#2. Paul Heyman and CM Punk are master strategists

One key difference between the two Bloodlines has been the presence of Paul Heyman. Roman Reigns respected the council Heyman provided, and he even allowed Heyman to speak as his proxy when he didn't appear.

Solo Sikoa forced The Wiseman to do his bidding and when he refused, Sikoa destroyed Heyman. Solo prefers brute force and the numbers advantage to get things done.

Having a Wiseman can help when plans fall apart and Heyman proved his value by recruiting Punk to the cause. It should be a harsh lesson that one should not disrespect or undervalue The Wiseman.

After Sami Zayn became the fourth member of the OG Bloodline team for Survivor Series: WarGames, a few names stood out as the possible final member.

Stars like Cody Rhodes, The Rock, Seth Rollins, and even Brock Lesnar were thrown around due to their status and history with Paul Heyman and The Bloodline. Rollins rebuked the offer to join the team while Rhodes is busy with Kevin Owens.

Bringing CM Punk into the fold for Survivor Series: WarGames upends what people were predicting for the team. Punk saved Paul Heyman from a Bloodline beating a few months ago. He respects Heyman and the two are great friends.

Adding the Best in the World is a welcome surprise, as Punk hasn't been used since beating Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood.
