A popular star has confirmed interest in returning to WWE almost two years after departing the company. Brie Bella stated that she and her sister, Nikki Bella, are not opposed to the idea of returning to their former stomping grounds.
Brie and Nikki are two of the most influential female performers in WWE history. Their work in the past decade paved the way for the women's revolution. Though the duo stepped back from active in-ring competition years ago, with only sporadic matches here and there, they remained with the promotion until March 2023.
However, Nikki and Brie Bella's exit wasn't seamless, as the former was previously quoted saying they weren't on the same page with the company. That said, things seem to be finally changing, especially after Nikki Bella attended RAW's Netflix debut this week. Now, in their recent appearance on the talk show, We Got Time Today, the 41-year-old star confessed they were willing to return to the Stamford-based company.
"We’ll see. The wrestling ring has always been our home, and I think that’s the hard thing about getting older, is that there’s that person inside you who, it’s like, ‘I would do anything to go back ten years to compete in the ring against the women today. But it’s time and age. There’s a funny thing to that. So we always want to compete. Every time I watch wrestling, I get fired up. [Nikki] and I would like, ‘Oh, this promo we should cut,’ but we’re like, wait, we’re not even in the business. But you know, you still are always there. So any time if WWE calls and is like, ‘Hey, ladies, we want you back,’ it’s always hard to say no," Brie Bella said. (H/T - Fightful)
A few months after their WWE exit in March 2023, Nikki Bella spilled the beans on what led them to depart the company they had worked for years. The former Divas Champion explained that both she and Brie felt they weren't aligned with the Stamford-based promotion and wanted more freedom.
“There was a moment where her and I looked at each other and kind of felt, ‘You know what? We're all not seeing eye to eye anymore. We didn't even have to say it, we could just look at each other and feel it. We get sad at times to not be a part of what the women are doing over there, and we will always support our women of the WWE, but it's been amazing to be in meetings or have these opportunities and be able to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for yourself, and not to have to go and ask, ‘Hey, we really want to do this opportunity, can we?’ We’re in this place of reclaiming our power and making our own decisions and not having to ask permission. It's crazy to feel that at 39," said Nikki Bella.
It remains to be seen if Nikki's unexpected appearance at RAW will lead to the iconic duo's WWE return, which would certainly please the fans.
