Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes returned to live shows following a brutal attack from Kevin Owens at Saturday Night's Main Event. Today, The American Nightmare shared a rare personal update amid his heated feud with The Prizefighter.
WWE Superstars were given time off after Saturday Night's Main Event as they spent time with their loved ones during the holiday season. The stars are slowly returning to weekly shows and live events ahead of Monday Night RAW's massive launch on Netflix in January 2025.
Today, Cody Rhodes shared a rare personal update on Instagram. The American Nightmare spent Christmas with his family, who also attended the company's recent Holiday Tour. The Undisputed WWE Champion shared pictures of his daughter Liberty and wife Brandi.
"🎄 Holiday - Family ♥️," Rhodes wrote.
Last month, Cody Rhodes agreed to defend his championship against Kevin Owens when The Prizefighter crossed a line and hit Randy Orton with a package piledriver. The two met in Long Island at Saturday Night's Main Event, where The American Nightmare appeared with the Winged Eagle Title for one night only.
In the match's final moments, Rhodes hit Owens with a Cross-Rhodes on a steel chair to win the bout. The move didn't sit well with the challenger, as he previously got the champion down for a three count with no referee in sight. This led to an all-out attack from Kevin Owens on Cody Rhodes.
After the devastating attack, The Prizefighter took the classic title with him as a souvenir and called himself the real champion. On the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown, The American Nightmare returned when The Prizefighter called him out.
The Undisputed WWE Champion agreed to Owens' demands, and the two will face each other in a Ladder match at the Royal Rumble in February 2025. Both titles will be suspended above the ring.
