WWE often uses the best talents in multiple roles, and a current champion is one new example of this practice. The veteran is now revealing what else he's doing for WWE.
Ivar has been wrestling for almost twenty-four years and has made his name around the world in numerous promotions while racking up several tag team championship reigns with a partner of seven years - Erik. The 2014 ROH Top Prospect has also had a notable singles career, and even impressed officials by finding success on the RAW brand after Erik went down with an injury.
The WWE World Tag Team Champion is currently working at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando and hopes he can continue this sort of work into retirement. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Ivar was asked what life after wrestling looks like to him. The Massachusetts native revealed his ongoing work at the Performance Center, and his ideas for a behind-the-scenes career once he hangs up his in-ring boots.
"The joke is a wheelchair... [laughs] but it's not really a joke. So, for me... I mean right now it's not official, but every week I'm at the Performance Center and I kind of run a 'big guys' class. That's very beneficial and rewarding to me, especially after all the training I've done for other people in the past. I'm able to do [this] with this new generation, which has been a lot of fun to see guys like Hank & Tank, Oba Femi, [Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe], and Out The Mud. These guys were signed, kind of for NIL, didn't know a thing about wrestling," Ivar said. [From 1:01:00 to 1:01:32]
Ivar continued:
"So to see them train at the Performance Center, be able to see them once a week, watch their matches with them, go over stuff, help with ideas, just explain wrestling, see how far they've come. That is so beneficial to me, I love that," Ivar said. [From 1:01:33 to 1:02:19]
The War Raiders are two-time WWE World Tag Team Champions and the current champions. They are also former NXT Tag Team Champions, one-time ROH World Tag Team Champions, and two-time IWGP Tag Team Champions in NJPW.
The War Raiders became two-time WWE World Tag Team Champions to wrap up another successful year. The December 16 RAW saw Erik and Ivar dethrone The Judgment Day's Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.
Triple H took to Instagram after RAW to congratulate The Raiders on their main-event victory. The Chief Content Officer included one of his signature backstage photos.
"To the edge of the cliff and back… Congratulations to #WarRaiders, your NEW World Tag Team Champions. #WWERaw," Triple H wrote with the photo below.
WWE has not named the first challengers for Erik and Ivar as of this writing. However, Monday's taped RAW may see Alpha Academy, American Made, The Judgment Day, and The New Day emerge as potential challengers.
