A former WWE champion recalled her reaction when the company informed her of a major decision. She said she was in tears after the phone call.

Kaitlyn was a popular WWE star who wrestled for the company from 2010 to 2014. Before joining the Stamford-based promotion, the former Divas Champion was a body fitness model. She signed with the company in 2010 and joined their developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling.

Within two months of joining FCW, Kaitlyn, whose real name is Celeste Bonin, got a phone call from the office that she would be on season three of NXT. In September 2010, she joined the developmental brand, with Vickie Guerrero as her on-screen mentor. This was back when NXT was still a competitive show where rookies were paired up with pros and competed in challenges.

During a recent interview with The A2theK Wrestling Show, Kaitlyn described her reaction when she was informed that she would be on NXT. She said she was in tears as she was excited and terrified simultaneously.

"It was weeks that I had been there before I got that call," Kaitlyn recalled. "And so the first reaction that came out of me was tears. I cried when I got the phone call. It was just so much emotion, so much excitement. I was also terrified. I was just like, 'I'm not ready. I don't know the first thing about wrestling. I just got here.' I never wrestled a match, didn't even have a pair of wrestling boots. And so it was a lot all at once." [H/T - WrestlingInc.]

Kaitlyn described her initial years in the WWE

As soon as Kaitlyn joined NXT, she established herself as one of the top contenders. She had the looks and strength to compete against the other women which also made her a fan favorite. As a result, she edged out Naomi to win season three of NXT.

Following her success in the company's developmental system, Kaitlyn moved up to the main roster where she found immediate success. She eventually won the Divas Championship. Sadly, her run in the Stamford-based promotion ended in 2014 when she terminated her contract.

During the same interview, the former Divas Champion said that her run, in the beginning, helped define her as a person and was very transformational.

"The whole entire time I was in WWE, especially in the beginning, was incredibly defining for me as a person. I always attribute so much of who I am today to that very transformational timeframe." [H/T - WrestlingInc.]

It would've been interesting to see the heights Kaitlyn could've reached had she stayed in the WWE.
