Bill Goldberg and Gunther got involved in a heated confrontation at WWE Bad Blood on October 5. Gage Goldberg did not expect the incident to happen and would like to see the two men settle their feud in the ring.
The segment began with WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H announcing the Crown Jewel Championship. Gunther then arrived and spotted Bill and Gage Goldberg at ringside. The World Heavyweight Champion berated Bill Goldberg as a father, prompting the WWE Hall of Famer to confront him.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Gage Goldberg said he told his dad to stand up to Gunther:
"I mean, when he [Gunther] first came out I wasn't expecting anything, and then he started saying all that, and then I'm like, 'Okay, okay,' and I started whispering to my dad, I'm like, 'You might wanna get in there and kick his a** or something like that.' But he got out there. He showed his presence, for sure, too. It was just like, 'Why are you calling him out?' I don't really know. I kinda wanna see my dad kick his a** now." [6:08 – 6:36]

On November 2, Bill Goldberg announced he plans to return to the ring in 2025 to compete in a retirement match. The Bad Blood segment with Gunther led to speculation that his final opponent could be The Ring General.
Bill Apter mentioned that many wrestlers face Gunther's ally Ludwig Kaiser before going one-on-one with the World Heavyweight Champion. However, Gage Goldberg does not think his father needs any warm-up matches:
"I honestly have no clue because, just as you said, you gotta go through the ladder a little bit. But, I mean, I feel like for a WWE legend, like my dad, he could just go straight up to Gunther and do his thing, so who knows?" [7:14 – 7:27]
Bill Goldberg has not wrestled since losing to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February 2022.
